There are beers that I wish I could write five-word, ratebeer-style reviews for. This is one of those beers, because it's basically a lesser clone of Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.

Pours dark brown with a finger of white head and good lacing (every Piece beer, even the kolsch and the malt liquor, has good lacing.)

Aroma is standard porter-- roasted and black malt, with a strong coffee note.

Tastes like it smells, malts and coffee in the front, black malt astringency in the back.

Mouthfeel is light and appropriate for a porter; carbonation is moderate and also well-suited to the rest of the beer.

Very drinkable, but fairly uninteresting, especially considering the rest of the menu at Piece.

Prodigal Porter from Piece, a pizza parlor. The menu said that this was brewed for the summer, hmmmm.

It was a decent enough looking beer, aroma wasn't too bad, but I found the roasted malt tase to be a little too much, it almost tasted like burnt chocolate. It was fairly light bodied, and I guess it would have been significantly less filing than a standard porter, but this beer just did not agree with me. Maybe it was what I was eating with it, but because it was a piece of Piece pizza, I claim innocence.
