A pleasing appearance. I was looking forward to trying it based on its appearance
S VERY fruitty. If you are a fan of fruit beers then you may really like the smell, taste. I do not and I was not impressed
T The VERY fruitty smell carried right over to the taste. As far as reproducing the raspberry taste in a beer it gets full marks but it was too sweet and gimicky for me. Everyone at our table remarked that it was intended for "women" but I did not necessarily believe that it was the case.
M Just O.K.
D I did not finish it. I believed that my wife may have finished it but she did not even want to.

I am not a big fan of fruit beers but I have tried 5 to 6 different raspberry beers. This was not one of the better ones of those.

I tried the Railway Razz during a recent visit to Willoughby Brewing and the Razz seemed to be a fav amongst the ladies. The beer poured a rich amber with thin white head that did not lace. The smell included good raspberry and not surprising, the taste had raspberries with decent malt balance. The mouthfeel was light in body with good carbonation. Fruit beers are not for me, but this was pretty good.

Beautiful deep crimson color and a creamy beige head with good retention. Enormous raspberry puree aroma, natural fruit sweetness, and some nutty malt notes. Dominant tart raspberry flavor, slightly smokey, dry and balanced with some spicy hop astringent that finishes the swallow nicely. Medium carbonation and mouthfeel with a finish that’s a dryer version of the taste, but fades quickly. Terrific raspberry flavor that’s not too sweet or tart makes this a really good drinker.

mildly transparent maroon. slightly purple/pink head with tight formation, though doesn't stick around long. Slight watery appearance. smells strongly of tart raspberry and not much else. Taste is extraordinary raspberry. Good flavor from the berry that hits hard up front, followed by a mild tartness. Fades at the tail end and doesn't stick around in the aftertaste much at all. mouthfeel is watery, light body. Good carbonation, though. Overall, a solid raspberry flavor which weakens at the tail due to a light body and distracting carbonation.

32 ounce growler
Served in a perfect pint glass

This beer pours rust colored with copper highlights. It is topped with an inch of beige head.

Raspberry is apparent, but the base ale is not completely covered as is the case with some raspberry ales.

The flavor is sweet and full of raspberry.

Medium mouthfeel

It's a decent beer. I tend to look at fruit beers more favorably in the summer than the late fall. My girlfriend likes it, so that is all that matters to me.

Got a pint of this yesterday during happy hour at the Willoughby Brewing Company. Served in a pint glass/tumbler. This beer is a clear dark red/brown color with ruby highlights. The color really reminded me of Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper. I thought the color seemed odd for a beer of this style. There almost zero head when drawn from the tap, just a very thin surface cover which then faded to next to nothing. Barely any lacing to speak of. Fruity, tarty aromas of raspberry were present along with some malt and maybe a slight touch of caramel. This beer tasted malty sweet and fruity with raspberry and tart coming through nicely. Quite tasty indeed. There may have been a slight trace of hops too. Has a crisp and smooth mouthfeel with fairly light carbonation and a light to medium body. Very drinkable. A good beer all around.

This raspberry brew displayed a very deep purple appearance, punctuated by thin lines of bubbles rising to the surface. A small head disappeared over time, but the visual aspect of this beer was very interesting. The smell was as expected...fruity, with tons of raspberry charactersitics and a sharp tartness. The raspberry was a bit too much for me in the taste, however. While the description at the brewpub stated that it was "wonderfully smooth without too much sweetness," I disagreed. Much too sweet. It reminded me of the days before I seriously drank beer, when I thought it was cool to mix Chambord and Zima. I sensed an emphasis on the "fruit" and a neglect of the "beer" in this example of the unique fruit beer style. The mouthfeel felt somewhat sticky and a bit too full, but nothing too out of the ordinary for the style. I really wouldn't want to have more than one of these, but in the end it was tolerable. Still, I'd stick to the other products in Willoughby's line.

On tap at Willoughby brewing over the summer

a: pours a shade of red similar to a strawberry. slight head that reduces to very light lacing

s: rasberry smell dominates

t: very sweet rasperry flavor, clean after taste no bitterness

m&d: small body, light mouthfeel due to decent carbonation. deffiantly a session beer I forget the ABV, but for some reason i think it is below 5 ABV

decent brew worth a try

My brother-in-law brought me a growler of this from the brewery. Pours an enticing ruby red with a thin white head. Excellent retention. Smell is dominated by the tart raspberry. Taste is dominated as well by the raspberry - no touch of bitterness. Nice, smooth mouthfeel makes this a very drinkable beer. Not super complex, but a great example of a fruit beer. Very true to the taste of raspberries. Awesome for drinking while watching some football!
