A: Pours black with a mocha head.

S: Medium roast coffee, chocolate, fairly typical porter nose.

T: Medium roast coffee and chocolate show up, along side a surprising amount of fruit presence. Probably more from yeast esters, but there is some hop presence here.

M: Medium bodied and smoothish.

O: Worth a try, somewhat typical nose, but it's quite fruity for a porter.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a St. Bernardus goblet.

A: Sparse but dark head disperses quickly. The beer is as blackish as brown can be. Completely opaque.

S: Roasted malt. A touch of earthy chile -- chipotle. Sweet chocolate.

T/M: Light and a touch sour, but with some serious heat on the endtaste. Not full-bodied enough for me, though considering the ABV I guess it's a decent job. Smooth and thin, but the main flavour is nutty, roasty, and peppery. Very nice, though perhaps 'twould have fared better as a porter? (Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing makes a mean Peoples' Porter.) A touch of chocolate is more of the dark variety and conveys little sweetness.

O: A very nice, interesting beer. Worth of your attention, but not exceptional. Still, recommended. Would have again.

Notes: "Organic stout brewed with chipotle and cacao nibs. Thinkest Organic...Drinkith [sic] Organic."

"Back at the altar of beer worship, Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing has brought another tantalizing elixir into the cloister. Thy Twisted Sister takes the dark, voluptuousness of Devout Stout and spices her up with ten sinful pounds of organic cacao nibs and one pound of smoky, hot, organic chipotle powder. Dark roasted malts, chocolate and heat ~ what could be better? They Twisted Sister isn't for everyone ~ she's spicy!"
