Pours a deep reddish brown with a thinner but well sustained light beige head atop, aromas of raspberry and chocolate, maybe a little artificial but not bad.Flavors have a light lactic berry quality and alot of chocolaty sweetness, the raspberry flavors are big and are the main compnent of the flavor profile with sweet chocolate underneath. This is a good Valentines Day beer for wich it was intended for and my wife loves it,for what it is it hits the mark.

Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a solidly opaque black color with a 1/4 inch dark tan head that doesn't retain long before reducing to a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a sheer center patch of surface foam. Non-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind.

S- Lots of raspberry, as expected, with a nice chocolaty backdrop from the dark roast. Just as it smells like it's going to be too sweet, the roast comes in and offsets it.

T- Taste is actually not as raspberry heavy as the aroma with the main player being the dark roasted malt and the raspberry coming in as, appropriately, the icing on the cake. Still very sweet, but the roast does a great job complementing the raspberry.

M- Silky soft with medium-low carbonation and a full body.

O- Pretty much just what I expected, if not better. IMO, Ninja Porter is ABC's best beer and this is a wonderful treatment for it. There's a great equalization between the two flavors and it results in a smooth, tasty drink. Will definitely be getting this again if they brew some more.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some faint dark cola brown highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy tan head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted malts with moderate aromas of cocoa. That is followed by light aromas of vanilla and strawberry. The non-roasted malt aromas become stronger as the beer warms up.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of dark roasted malts with a hint of charred malts. That is followed by light to moderate flavors of cocoa and light flavors of vanilla and strawberry but very minimal amounts of sweetness. Moderate amounts of roasty bitterness in the finish which lingers for quite a while.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin.

O: Enjoyable but I wish the cocoa, vanilla, and strawberry came through the roasted malt flavors and aromas a little more - just a touch more subtle than I would have preferred. Nice drinkability with well hidden alcohol.

Poured from a bomber into a shaker pint, the beer is a very dark, almost black coloring with some mahogany highlights around the edges. Slim, low profile, sparse, light tan head coats the surface. Aromas of rich and tart raspberry fruit forward, with a milk chocolate backbone, subtle roasted notes, and a hint of coffee bitterness. Flavors are raspberry tart and sweet forward, with a crème highlight, bitter coffee backbone, and a ribbon of bittersweet baker's chocolate. Very well balanced and damn tasty. The body is light and dry, per the Porter style, and there is a bit of a crème and chocolate highlight to the otherwise raspberry fruit aftertaste. Tart and sweet through and through. The finish is dry and smooth, with the tart berry notes lingering on. Very tasty beer.

Appearance: Pours fudge brown with garnet highlights; the head, while modest, retains nicely and leaves some slivers of lace

Smell: Raspberry dominant, with chocolate undertones

Taste: Raspberry juice, more sweet than tart; chocolate builds somewhat in the middle, but the raspberry flavors dominate; slightly ashy finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Compared to the base beer, this is a bit of a disappointment as it lacks the fulsome chocolate flavor that would balance out the fruit
