Tasted 31 January 2015.

Pours a clear orange with shades of gold. One finger of fluffy white head, good retention and lacing. Very nice.

Smell is bright and fruity. Citrus, pineapple, papaya. Some seriously tropical hops in there, with an underlying sweetness to fill things out. Very nice.

Taste is good, not great. It's got some of those fruity elements, which are excellent, but it feels sorta empty otherwise, and it fades to a slightly chalky bitterness.

Feel is fine. Pretty much as expected. Medium-bodied, medium-high carbonation. Lastingly bitter.

A pretty solid IPA. I love the fruits in the smell, but I wish there was more in the taste.

No frills, no gimmicks, no bells nor whistles- Asheville Brewing's Perfect Day IPA is a throwback to balanced beer but using some of the sexiest hops on the planet for a beer that's smooth and effortless yet bold and charismatic on the palate.

Medium amber and with a copper sheen, the lightly foggy ale carries a soapy white froth and a citrusy, spicy scent. Caramel, light honey a hint of gritty, earthy graininess roll onto the tongue with a rich pecan, toasty and almost toffee robust taste.

As the flavors unfold, the sweetness and savory grains subside and the hops gain steam- orange and pink grapefruit rise with a complement of spicy rye, white grape and a hint of gin. Remaining toasted and creamy, the beer's drying trek trails into a spicy bitterness of citrus peel and freshly muddled grasses.

Medium-bodied and balanced through most of the session, the persistent nuttiness, toastiness and rye bread flavors perfectly support the grassy, citursy and sprucy bitterness that surpasses other malt complexities in extended finish.

Pours into an imperial nonic a clear rich medium golden with almost a full finger of tight white head that leaves broken rings of lace as it settles.Leafy and citric hops dominate the nose with almost no malt base to speak of.Green leafy and citric hops dominate the palate with only mild sweetnes,it has a "green garden" flavor to it wich is a good thing.I'am not sure this a sessionable IPA with it's 6.5%ABV but it's a solid beer from Asheville.

Pint on tap at RiverLink in Asheville.
From Brewer: "Perfect Day ... goes down like a session style pale but packs the hop flavor of a big IPA; which it is. Perfect Day is 6.5% abv, so make no mistake it isn’t your typical “session” beer but it drinks like one. El Dorado, Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops give Perfect Day flavors and aromas of citrus and fruits. There is also a distinct aroma and flavor of white grapes that come from the very unique Nelson Sauvin hops. We dry hopped Perfect Day with equal parts El Dorado and Citra for extra hoppy perfection. Last but not least a touch of Rye malt was used to add a subtle complexity and to compliment all of that hop flavor."

Clear amber with a bone-colored head. The aroma has good complexity and appeal, with
herbal/fruity hops over a reltively strong and sweet malt base.

The hops are more than just adequate for the style, but here is a substantial malt load that tames the hops and leaves the beer with a quite mild bitterness. Nonetheless, a very long lasting and hoppy aftertaste.

Medium body with crisp carbonation.

O: Not perfect but quite tasty, well above average quality. Easily recommended.

An great IPA. Amber / golden ale with generous somewhat sudsy head. Nice piney, resinous aroma, with lesser floral notes. Taste a balanced presentation of those resinous hops, nice balance with the malt, and lingering enough to be enjoyable. Mouthfeel as expected, somewhat oily, with bitter aftertaste. A nicely balanced IPA with big flavor but nothing out of place, nothing over the top. Poured from a can dated 6-11-16 (presumably a production date), consumed 1 July 2016.

A twelve ounce can dated 03/20/17 poured in a twelve ounce tulip glass.

Look- Pours a transparent dark orange/amber color leaving a thick finger of creamy white lingering foam. A little lacing is left behind as it settles.

Smell- Floral notes, orange zest and malt.

Taste- It begins with floral esters that open up to some pine, grapefruit, orange zest and malt.

Feel- Resiny and full bodied with a slightly bitter semi dry finish.

Overall- A very serviceable IPA that's reminiscent of the old school genre. The juice bombs of today have raised the bar and sadly these just don't excite the palate too much. In fairness this can that a friend bought on vacation is nearly two months old, so that could possibly have lowered my score a little. Still a very drinkable beer that's worth a try if you're in the distribution footprint.

Had on-tap at Buffalo Nickel Asheville. Served in a pint glass.

A- Pours a clean medium amber color with a 1/2 inch beige head that retains well before falling to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a full sheet of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind.

S- Juicy burst of citrus hops with a sweet malt aroma to back.

T- The juiciness isn't as intense as in the aroma but it's still there with some moderate bitterness that lingers a bit.

M- Slightly sharp and dry with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- This is obviously heavy on the dry hopping since the aroma's so bright and inviting. The rest of the beer ain't bad either.
