A super limited imperial brown ale aged for 6 months in one of our "magic" barrels, then another 3 months in a rum barrel with an insane amount of sweet Oregon cherries. Pucker up with Maceo and taste the Funk!

Appearance: Arrives with a mahogany brown color with a maroon tinge; the head is modest but leaves a few strands behind
Smell: Sour cherry and vinous notes, the rum barrel is hard to detect in the aroma
Taste: Toasted malt, lactic sour cherry flavors and a touch of chocolate, up front, with the vinous and oaky notes developing, in the middle; after the swallow, the tartness continues to expand but the rum doesn't really make a presence until the finish though it becomes a touch more apparent with each sip
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation; nicely puckery
Overall: Not sure what the "magic" barrels are but I did see some Rombauer barrels marked "Maceo" stacked in the brewery area so I am guessing that they beer was aged in red wine barrels of some sort before being finished off in the rum barrel; however, they did it, the end product is quite impressive

I am not a fan of farmhouse ales and yet when I have one offered I accept. Sour to nose, tart on palate and hint of cherries on back. 6/27/17
