Harvester is our interpretation of the classic German Marzen style. Magnum and Palisade highlight a creative hop blend. The result is a deep amber color and a hearty flavor that salutes the old world taste of the season.

Great fall beer. I have discovered a few that have surpassed it now (Southern Tier Harvest, Market Garden Old Zahm) but I am still a fan. Confused why they call it an ale in the name if it is supposed to be a Marzen.

My first Doppelbock. Damn, this is like brandy or port in the nose, and just freakin delicious in my new Mountain Layers tulip glass. Beautiful orange amber, semi decent head retention...rich, bright, but a clean finish...one or two will do, thank you. Can't wait to get this and others at the Green Mansion.

Pours a deep and kind of rusty orange-amber with a fluffy slightly off-white head of foam.
Sweet biscuity toasted malt aroma and a wasp of earthy/herbal/spicy noble-esque hop character.
The malt bill definitely plays lead character with notes of stale toast and a barely noticeable caramel/toffee-like sweetness. The herbal and earthy hops play a presence but act simply as a distraction instead of working in sync with the malt sweetness.
Light-medium bodied, medium carbonation, sweet, earthy, and crisp.
Overall, this beer is an interesting "Oktoberfest" as it really is not that. As for any Marzen I expect nice biscuits, toast, and caramel sweet flavors from the malt bill, which the beer somewhat provided; however, I did earlier mention a flavor of stale toast and that is no lie. I'm sure this isn't the intention nor necessarily fault of Green Man but this beer needs some work.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.
A hybrid here, brewers intention is a Marzen but it is labeled as an ale. Looks like one with a that deep tawny hue, lacing is a sight to see as well. Toasty breadiness wafts hard in the nose, hint of fruitiness and herbal hop. Chewy medium body, settled smoothness. Toasted bread, bread crust, dried hay, and a mild nuttiness from the malt. Balancing hop bitterness and flavor in the middle. Drink more like an Amber Ale but it is not too far off from what they intended. Regardless, very enjoyable to knock back.

Poured into a snifter. A clear dark amber/copper color with a medium-sized light tan head. The nose was distinct: brown bread, toast, sweet malt, and a hint of spiciness, like cinnamon. The first sip did not disappoint, with flavors following the nose. Less bready than many Marzens but not overly sweet. There was a clear but subtle spiciness from the hops I suppose, tasting like cinnamon bread to me. A very interesting, tasty beer.

A clear and copper colored beer with an off white head that leaves lots of sticky lacing behind. The aroma is sweet caramel, bread and herbal hops. The flavor is sweet up front with hints of caramel. There is a nice balanced hop bitterness at the finish. This is a damn tasty beer.

L: Pours brilliant ruby brown under a 1” off-white to cream moderately persistent foam cap.
S: Lightly toasted malts, the aromas are not huge.
T: Rich malt, kettle sugars, a hint of light brown sugar, a hint of stone fruit, accented by a medium low hop bitterness. The malt is medium to medium high.
F: Medium body and medium to medium low carbonation.
O: A refreshing, drinkable Oktoberfest that is on the darker side.
