The Rainmaker pours to a medium creamy off-white head on a slightly hazy golden body that is alive with fine-grained carbonation; lacing is fair, consisting of spiky bands. The nose is light-medium in intensity, leading with biscuity malt notes that are quickly overtaken by a blend of pineapple, pine and hints of perfumey florals, all topped by deceptively subdued alcohol overtones. Midpalate, the malt becomes much more apparent as the nutty/caramelly character increases significantly and we get a good view of the bready malt foundation; as a consequence, perceived bitterness is pushed back a good bit to moderate. Compounding the maltiness is a big, distracting boozy undertow that shows as solvent-like. The finish is surprisingly clean, just a flash of nutty malt, followed by the onset of a significant, lasting piney bitterness that has an undesirable fusel charater lurking behind it. Retrogustative olfaction is slightly grassy. Mouthfeel is quite astringent and is big for the light-medium body; the texture is medium-creamy and faintly peppery from the unexpectedly muted carbonation. Between the astringency and the excessive booziness, this is not a pleasant beer to drink. (12 oz bottle, no code date)

Pours a nice slightly hazy, off gold/amber color.

Smell is a mix between piney, resinous hops with a slight sweet, tropical orange and grapefruit citrus smell.

Taste has a nice balance between sweet, bready malt and resinous hops. The hop flavor comes through sticky and piney at first, flourishing into a nice citrus bouquet that linger with a grapefruit pith bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Just a tad on the heavier side.

Overall a great DIPA. Definitely suggest trying it.

Very hoppy and smooth. I enjoyed better than other 'highly rated' double IPA's!

Bottle > tulip glass.

A -Orange gold in color a finger of off white fizzy head very little lacing.
S - Lots of pine and hop resin, orange juice, some caramel malts, some white grape, light citrus.
T - You get the bold hop resin with a nice medium bite. Some grassy and pine notes at the end of that, and a mild caramel malt base. Big orange juice some grapefruit. You do not feel or taste the 9.3% at all.
M - Smooth with a good bitterness, super drinkable.
O - Excels in aroma and feel, big beer without feeling big. Flavor could use a bit of an improvement, but still a great double IPA.

I think this beer is underrated. Not that I am biased, but maybe I am. I have been to the brewpub numerous times, I like Green Man.

Appearance: Hazy bronze with a nice head retention that just sits there and stays.

Smell: Floral, hoppy, resinous and dank. Some Pine but not as much as others. Some alcohol is detected in the aroma.

Taste: Very nicely balance. A full flavor, tropical fruits, earthy dried fruits present, some piney bitterness, but not overwhelming. Malt sweetness is definitely there, but far from cloying, well balanced.

Overall: I loved this beer and found a great deal on it. I would buy it again. Even though it is a bit pricey but the bomber is larger than the standard 22 oz.
