12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Love the foam, the head, the lacing. Dull pale amber hue, great clarity. Extra juicy hop nose, grapefruit zest, green tea, peppercorn, grassy, mild caramel, and a hint of alcohol. Big smoothness, semi-chewy, taffy, massive bitterness, warming. A tad creamy with some surprising malt balance. Big time in your face, just takes over the palate but in a good way. This is serious drinking here, fun but serious.

Pours a nice slightly hazy, off gold/amber color.

Smell is a mix between piney, resinous hops with a slight sweet, tropical orange and grapefruit citrus smell.

Taste has a nice balance between sweet, bready malt and resinous hops. The hop flavor comes through sticky and piney at first, flourishing into a nice citrus bouquet that linger with a grapefruit pith bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Just a tad on the heavier side.

Overall a great DIPA. Definitely suggest trying it.

Pours into an oversized wine glass a deep honey color with a large billowing white head that looks great in the settle.A nice punch of juicy citrus fruit hits in the nose along with more floral hop notes, some mild sweet alcohol and caramel round out the aromas.More resinous than citrusy on the palate with a decent amount of earth as well, not much sweetness until it warms, giving off some booze and deep caramel.I like this DIPA alot the hops are showcased well and not overly sweet and alcoholic.

On tap at Busy Bee

A - cloudy orange with a big, soft, thick, white head that has great retention

S - grapefruit, a bit floral

T - bread, faint sweet malt, dark bread like pumpernickel, huge grapefruit, faint bitter finish, some pine

M - medium to full bodied, well carbonated

This is a really nice DIPA. The hop presence has great character and it has an all around good drinkability. My only complaint is that there is a dark bread component that I think is at odds with the rest of the flavor profile. Other than that this is a really good, highly drinkable, clean DIPA that is worth checking out.

Bottled on 07-02-15

Pours an effervescent amber with a finger of cream colored head. Vey good head retention & lacing

S: Pineapple, mangos & breadyness

T: Follows the nose, lovely tropical fruit notes, a little woody hop as well up front. Pineyness as this warms, much tropical fruit as well & a little grapefruit, Finishes a little dry, with grapefruit & pineapple & a little bit of caramel & breadyness

MF: Chewy with slight carbonation, very good balance

Easily my favorite beer from these guys, so far, they nailed this one, so drinkable

I easily achieve three fingers of thick fluffy off white head with a generous pour. This head has very nice staying power, fading slowly and leaving waves of fat choppy lace. Body is an attractive amber gold tone. Nose is soft but pleasurable with citrus rind based hoppy goodness. Some slight piney woodsy feel in the background as well. The bitterness shocks the tongue with first sip. The body of this beer is a raw array of vegetable forward hops. Fresh cut grass, celery, cabbage, and wet pine come to mind. Leaves a odd bitter hue on the back of the tongue. Its not all that bad but it seems the malts may be interacting weirdly with the hops in terms of balance on this one. I really wanted to love this one. Overall it is just OK for me.

Poured from the bottle at a tasting into a snifter glass. Much thanks to northstar23. From notes.

Pale apricot to lemon yellow body. Quite light but not getting straw color there. Pale white top and collar, with a slightly cloudy body.

Very impressive nose. Creamy notes of vanilla and peach. Mushed and rotten mango, and holy crap this thing smells like durian fruit. This is dam scary here, this sort of funky earth fruit thing and must. Ugh... insane, very impressive and unique.

Palate manages to calm down a bit, which is probably a good thing. Fruit angle comes out like a big punch mix, and slightly sweet in the mid palate on the hop angle. Some nice apricot warmth comes out of this, with a good controlled almost silky palate. Controlled warmth, definitely big ipa territory but surprisingly not hot or too boozy.

Overall just a wild fruit component to this and a big surprise. Very unique IPA would love to have a bottle of this again someday.

Poured from a bomber into a Goose Island tulip. The beer pours out a light amber color with a slight haze and sports a beautiful 3 fingers of creamy white head with excellent retention. Nice nose. I get pine, grapefruit, fresh linen, and oranges.

Big herbal hop flavor profile with a silky mouthfeel. Grassy and hemp-like, rather than fruity, but with substantial malt sweetness underneath. Grapefruit, marmalade, triscuits, and cooked cabbage. Dry, hoppy, mealy finish. Sage.

Not an imperial IPA I'd buy again. It definitely has quality and was brewed with great care and craft, but the flavors just don't do it for me. I prefer IIPAs with sharp, fruity bitter flavors. This makes me think of sour mash that was dry-hopped. Still, I'll be trying some other offerings from Green Man if I come across them.
