330ml bottle. Bottled 2/9/14. Pours a medium copper colour with a towering off white head which lasted well and left some excellent lacing. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, tropical fruit and malt. Aroma was quite intense on opening the bottle but in the glass shows some restraint. Medium bitterness and light to medium sweetness. Medium bodied, smooth and a gentle bitter finish. Very approachable. 8.

A - Pours a very dark burnt orange under a finger of dense frothy head and streaky lacing.

S - Citrusy hops up front but plenty of sweet malt brings an even balance.

T - Orange peel and apricot, honey and caramel.

M - Moderately carbonated, medium body, dry finish and nice level of bitterness.

O - A good Aussie IPA, I'd go for the Galaxy over this one though.

Pours a dark amber / copper - one finger head - looks the biz. Head fades to lace.

Aromas mainly of pine / grapefruit, but I think I have served too cold.

Taste is a massive palate hit. Big hoppy inital hit but so much malt in there as well. Pine, grapefruit, and a full aftertaste. Grapefruit builds. All this @ 5.8% as well. And another taste which another reviewer notes as gunpowder, I can't put my finger on it either.

Mouthfeel is rich 'n' creamy.

A good find - will drink next one warmer....

Pours a dark red colour with good head and lacing.

Smell is fresh milk, yeast, malt and green apple.

Taste brings the goods. Very hoppy with a substantial bitterness. The hops have a largely herbal, leafy quality, with a bit more apple.

Mouthfeel is thick and really very good.

Highly sessionable stuff and easily among the best Australian IPAs.

Amber bordering on red. Stable off white head with good lacing. Hazy from the bottle conditioning but remains vibrant.

Aroma is a mix of floral hops and sweet malt. Nice but the hops almost seem overwhelmed and struggle to really shine. The difficulty in producing a "balanced" IPA is that it's only balanced for a short while. As soon as the hops fade a bit, it stops being a proper IPA.

Taste starts off light like a good pale but finishes with a flurry of bitterness and hefty malt. Hops come across spicy with a hit of crystal malt in the end. Certainly not for the faint of heart (or hop) but seems to stray down the path of massive malt to make it's point.

Had high hopes for this but it reminds me a lot of Murrays Icon IPA. Big on hops, but seemingly bigger on malt.

Colour and appearance as per my previous notes although definately some more haze this time around. Nose is very good; sweet grapefruit and truckloads of lift. Some harder hop notes in the background. Palate is less impressive; iron and metal notes, firming hops, all quite technically correct but for mine a bit unfriendly. Malt plays a strong role in the back palate.
