This is amazing beer for the abv. Absolute hop bomb on the nose and palate that has made me realise that galaxy is a great hop. Citris with a bold hit of wild fruits, but this is a nice sharp hoppiness that isn't flabby. The taste of and IPA and the gravity of a pale ale, what a combo.

A nice Golden brown/orange colour. 2 fingers of head in a snifter.

Huge nose. A whole bunch of passionfruit and underneath some sweetish notes, maybe from crystal malt.

Follows up the nose very well. A little one dimensional, but that's not really a flaw in a single hop ipa - it shows off galaxy very well and what a hop it is. Mmmm. Not hugely bitter - but bitter enough to be called an IPA, unlike some examples I have had recently.

Feels great in the mouth, smooth but still with plenty of carbonation - ideal for an IPA on tap.

Edit: in the bottle it was nowhere near as good. The wild fruitiness of galaxy stood alone unsupported by adequate bitterness or malt backbone. I will leave the review for the tap version though, as I really liked it. To be honest, I doubt there was a heap of difference, drinking a beer at a great bar with great friends certainly enhances the experience!

Poured into my Kilkenny branded 375 odd ml pub glass.
Slightly hazy/cloudy orange, poured a single finger head, which has dissipated very quickly. No carbonation or lacing at all, the cap came off rather easily I think I may have a bit of a dud.

Definitely passionfruit, citrus, piney resin, caramel/toffee.

Taste: Slightly different from other IPA's I've tried, however a good balance of malt and hops, slight touch of citrusy pine with a nice mild drying bitterness. Would be a good introduction into the world of IPA.

Mouthfeel: Nice and soft full mouthfeel, as mentioned no carbonation which I don't mind but this does seem a tad flat.

Jamiesons Beast is my usual go to drop so this is very tame for me, has a nice bitterness to it, would be good for a session/all day but at $27.50 for a sixpack of 4.8% IPA it's ridiculously overpriced and I know my merchant isn't one of the sheisters that puts an insane markup on his stock, despite my love of all things IPA and this being a limited batch this isn't going to be something I'll be in a hurry to buy again. Especially when I can get 7% Beast from the same store for over $5 cheaper. Sorry to say Bridgeroad dudes, I'm a fan of your work but in this instance I'm not really impressed, if you're going to release a limited edition IPA at this price make it an Imperial over 8%.

Pours orange/amber with a large fading head.
Aroma shows loads more fruity confectionery, with passionfruit, pineapple, lemon and lime lollys all represented. Alongside this is a pungent grassy note, presumably from late/dry-hopping. Some faint caramel is also present, but I think this could really benefit from more malt.
Some of those fruity aromas transfer through as flavours, but the malt dominates in this department (contradictory to what I just mentioned above??), with caramel, toffee and bready notes before a solid, but somewhat boring and dull bitterness follows.
Carbonation is light, body is moderate... pretty good!

Didn't really pour with much head and what was there quickly faded. A deep golden colour and pours fairly cloudy. There is an unmistakable Galaxy hops aroma and on the first sip I found it too bitter, but after drinking a little more it seems better balanced. The bottle says is has a medium malt profile but I don't really get this. Overall a good beer but not great.

received today from user bluebetty. off my wants list too. taken too long to get to this. thanks!

light tan thin stable head. cloudy (probably been thrown around a bit the last few days) copper. medium carbonation.

nice flowery perfumy hop aroma with some light malt and spiciness.

bitterness is quite potent, which is great. not too much though as there is enough malt and hop flavour there to carry through the whole beer.

obvious why this beer is held in such high regard. right up there with the best aussie ales.

I like the idea and hope to see more of it. Nice piney, resiny, pineapple notes with a hint of fresh grass. And that, is Galaxy hops boys and girls. Solid bitterness and a nice pine-like tannic feel. It's ticking all the right boxes. Overall a solid beer and a great way of showcasing galaxy (or hops in general) for the uninitiated.

A: Pours a cloudy dark copper color with a good off-white head that fades slowly to nice lacing.

S: Aroma of grapefruit with a hint of pine, fresh grain and a bit of malt sweetness in the background.

T: Taste of grapefruit with a bit of pine. Light caramel sweetness with fresh grain. Good bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Medium body, crisp, clean and refreshing. Nicely balanced.

O: This beer hit the spot. well worth a try.

Pours a slightly orange-tinged gold with an unnecessary - but not unwelcome - cloudy haze. Head is white, tightly packed bubbles and retaining very well. Slow bead in the glass, nice lacing left behind. That's a cracker.

Oh, that's some passionfruit goodness. Lots of sweet and tangy fruit with passionfruit seeds and lovely cakey malt underlying. It's just fresh, fruity and delicious. A bit one-track but when that track is this beautiful it's not such an issue. Tangy, fruity, tasty.

Taste is pleasant. Lots of deep malt notes on the front and tangy passionfruit all over it. Fruity and seedy with a slight spicy flavour on there as well, kind of cinnamon-esque which is perhaps just a byproduct of the hop intensity. Finish starts early and a bit muted for an IPA, but in the sense that there's no hop wallop, it's just a hoppy bitter finish. Quite floral but with a strong citric element. Very acerbic at times and a decent IPA strength to it. Yeah, there's a slight dirtier, ashy bitterness late that just isn't as nice as the rest of the palate, but still a good tasty palate.

A bit sharp on the feel when the bitterness hits and otherwise a lot of carbonation sizzle. I've definitely found the Achilles' heel of this beer and it's in the texture.

Notwithstanding, a tasty beer with lots of good elements. If those rough edges could be pruned it would be a top drop.

Slightly Cloudy, orange/gold with 2 fingers of sticky white head.

Passionfruit, like passionfruit merange dominate the aroma. Smells like a bag of fresh galaxy hops.

Some sweet bready malts upfront, then a big resinous hop finish with reasonable bitterness.

Pretty good body, with ample carbonation.

All in a great, and very interesting IPA, could've bee a touch more bitter, but now im just being difficult

Bottled 3/18/15.

Pours a murky dark honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus zest, grapefruit juice, tropical fruit, and earthy hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, and earthy hop flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop and earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that starts out citrus and tropical fruit forward, but more earthy hop qualities come out and take over as the beer warms up.

Serving type: bottle.
