Third taste of Archibald. After Ciboire and La Joufflue, I feel very good about this brewery. Also, two days ago, I was just thinking about how I would like a good local canned Pilsner. So I guess it's looking good.

A- Super clear gold. Nice. Something different about the head. Quite airy, a bit like it's made of creamy soap bubbles. Okay retention. Good but small lacing.

S- Oh! Lots of honey! Combined with the breadiness, it kind of smells like a honeybun.

T- Hopiness is grassy and kind of woody which seems kind of strange for the style. I love Pilsners with American hop profiles but this really doesn't fit. More of a pale ale or blonde or something. Some typical Czech pilsner bitterness though.

M- Very smooth for the style. Not nearly as crisp as others Pilsners. Medium body.

D- Very good. Not as much as other pilsners but still good.

Pretty good beer. Only thing is, I don't want all this honey and north amercian hop grassiness when reaching for a Pilsner.

Bottle: Poured a yellow color lager with a quite big pure white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light floral malt with sweet undertones is pretty tames though exclusion of any adjunct notes is welcome. Taste is also a refreshing mix between some light floral notes with a lightly sweet tone and some light dry hops. Again, no adjunct were detected which is quite satisfying. Additional hops presence would have been welcome though still a refreshing drink overall.

A: Pale yellow color with a nice bubbly head that sticks well to the glass.
S: Average intensity aroma of malts typically pilsner malts.
T: Bitter with some floral notes with malts (cereal). Very dry on the finish.
M: Thin bodied and a lot of carbonation.
D: Very good drinking beer.

473 ml can

A- Clear golden-lemony yellow. Weak white head.

S- Very little smell. Some faint citrus notes.

T- Flash of bitter up front that then lingers into the aftertaste. Grainy middle with some citrus notes. A bit watery.

MF- Medium light body. Somehow not as crisp as I would prefer.

D- OK but nothing worth paying premium prices for. Not all that much more interesting than certain macros.

Pours a clear pale straw with a middling white head that evaporates to nothing. Poor retention; no lacing. (3.5)

Doesn't smell like much of anything. Cereals, sour alcohol-y smells, paper, grass. (3.25)

Clean and slightly grainy. Grassy hops with the slightest almost-citrus freshness from the yeast. (3.25)

Light-bodied, clean, refreshing. Not much more to it. (3.5)

Decent AAL, kind of shitty pilsner (which is what it says on the can). Or so says I.
This is a clear, clean refreshing, quenching lawnmower beer. No doubt in my mind. It has all the good fizzy effervescence of a macro beer, and the quick clean finish of a Bud, with the same lingering sour-ish throat tinge. Just don't expect it to be something it is not.
This is a drinkable beer for a hot day and would be a good 'treat' beer for anyone who is exclusively an AAL drinker. That is, it tastes the same but a little different and a touch bolder.
Likely won't have again; a good canned beer to take somewhere that doesn't allow glass. (3.5)

Bright dark straw color with moderate activity. Foamy white 1 finger head, lasting around 5 minutes, with poor legs. Flavors of sweet grains, caramel, corn, faint lemon and noble spices. Very sugary, low bitterness. Slick and smooth full body with extra prickly carbonation. Feels a little adjunct and too syrupy. Light finish that ends with tons of sweetness and faint grassiness. Overall bad quality stuff. Way too accessible. Poorly flavored, too much corn. The freshness is alright. Not much of a pilsener.
