La Matante
473 ml can, coded "342 0265"
A pleasantly surprising blonde ale! The malt is softly sweet and grainy, yet delicate. It delivers flavor without having to have a lot of body behind it. It's light bodied and gently crisp across the palate, with the carbonation enhancing some of the delicate spiciness of the hops, which are otherwise lightly floral. I see it almost as a witbier without the spice or Belgian yeast.

On tap at Le Chic Shack. Served in a pilsner glass.
Appearance - Clear yellow. No head to speak of. Medium collar. A lonely island wisp.
Smell - Smells like a pilsner. Slight earthy and grassy hop nose. Lots of pilsner malt. Clean lagery aroma.
Taste - More of a sharp hop presence, but still mostly a tinge of earthy German hops. Dry crisp malt. Clean finish with a minimal hop bite.
Mouthfeel - Crisp and light. Drinkable on a warm day. Almost too dry.
Overall - Listed as a pale ale on the menu. I find it difficult to believe an ale yeast produced this mild a flavor.

A bit excited for this one but also readying myself for disappointment.
A- Using a tulip. Very, very slight haze makes the gold liquid look very, very slightly dull. Awesome looking, super white fluff of a head. Fine lacing and good retention. Looks very tasty and I can't wait to try it.
S- Honey from hops and American adjunct lager grain.
T- Hops are nice and subtle. Grassy and a little bit. A bit sour and woody in the finish. It's good but the sourness is kind of weird.
M- Medium to high carbonation. Medium body. Not really dry.
D- Good. Easy to drink but it tastes a little off with the sourness and all.
Might be my least favorite Archibald can I've tasted yet. Still good though.

Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of cereal and unrefined grain is tolerable. Taste is also composed of a mix between some lightly sweet cereal and some unrefined grain. Body is about average with average carbonation. Probably one of the least interesting beer form this brewer.

Poured on tap in Montreal into a nonic pint glass. From notes.
Real nice dark gold and clear body, with slow rising carbonation crawling up. Bright white head, kind of creamy, real nice looking brew.
Nose is fruity with a sweet malt and mild honey. Dense and rich quite surprising.
Taste is full of flavor in the palate but not as bold from what is hinted in the nose. Seems lager like, with a good crispness. Nice mix of fruit and yeast like esters too.
Overall pretty solid, kind of funny how I sort of fall into these blonde ales once in awhile.

La Matante from Microbrasserie Archibald got it in a beer festival at Chambly Quebec.
Look: Yellow golden color, with medium carbonation. White that disappear quickly.
Smell: Grassy hops and a touch of malt.
Taste: Dry hops and the hops are there. Very clean very soft also. Goes down really easy
Feel: Light to medium body, very easy drinking. not to rough on the taste.
So overall would I recommend it? Sure especially when you are in a bar, very nice overall.

473 ml can.
A- Pale gold with OK white head. Nice bubbles rising. Very clear and pale.
S- Fresh lemony beer out of the can. Not a strong aroma. Touch of sweetness.
T- Watery up front with very little hops. Soda water carbonation flavour. A hint of grain and citrus in the finish and aftertaste. As it warms, a sour note in the middle intensifies.
MF- Light bodied. Watery.
D- The least interesting beer I've tried from this brewery. Blander than their Pilsener. Overall, this beer is too bland and its general character is slightly unpleasant and lacking balance.
