I was happy to see this on tap. Thanks to Beer Advocate for the heads-up on availability!

It was served in a snifter. The beer is a hazy straw with an off-white head.

It has a nose of grains, sea air and sweet tarts.

I like this one. Slightly sour, a touch of salt, a bit of yeast and to me, at least a smidgen of citrus.

The mouth is perfect, a bit thick, slightly chewy and a trifle astringent.

Go to Fitgers a.s.a.p. and get this one!

Had this on 2013-06-15 in Duluth, MN at Fitger's (from tasting notes).

A - Cloudy yellow with a 1/4-finger head and decent lacing.

S - Like hard cider aged in a wooden barrel and infused with gooseberries. Reminded us of our early attempts at making apple cider at "The Ranch"; one of our first domiciles.

T - Much like the smell with a touch of pale malt. The delicious gooseberry flavor is citrus-like. There's a light touch of balancing bitterness, some funk and lightly sour. Tastes great.

M - Light body and medium carbonation. Crisp and refreshing.

O - Really enjoyable. We have grown gooseberries on our property and have made gooseberry wine so it was realy treat to have this beer. Of interest, while hiking in the nearby Superior forest we saw quite a few wild gooseberry bushes. I really enjoyed this brew and my wife liked it even better; giving it even higher marks than me.
