Was able to find the single seat left at the bar at 5pm on a Thursday. First beer was Trampled by Hops (hommage to the popular band from the area, Trampled by Turtles) hand-pulled. Why do brewers put their most hoppy beers on cask? It makes no sense. The beer did not benefit from this delivery method. I then switched to El Nino. What a fantastic IPA. I had the Pub burger and fries to eat. The burger was overcooked but otherwise was tasty. The fries were very good. Service varied from exceptional to incompetant. Luckily the stronger servers and bartenders saved the evening as the place got packed as the night wore on. The beer selection was varied with a style for just about everyone. Fantastic location and building. A lot of history throughout the old brewery complex. A must visit if you are in the area.

Located in a real old building but it has been modernized. Larger than expected, very homey and friendly taproom, great staff, excellent food, good selection of decent beer. Well worth a visit.

This is a good place to eat for pub food and great servers. However, beer wise, this is not the same place as it once was. Huge turnover in Brewers including the head man. Tried two, the Starfire pale ale which used to be great. Now it's like it was brewed by a beginner home brewer. Likewise the apricot wheat. It's fine for those who don't know what good beer is, sad. Use to have a great wit, breakwater, but haven't seen it for quite awhile. Oatmeal stout is still ok but the days of great seasonals, specialties looks to be in serious decline.

This brewpub is a historic gem to Duluth that contains a hotel, multiple bars and restaurants and even some shops. Their main restaurant is very inviting and busy. It offers outdoor seating as well. They frequently hold events but seem to not update their social media to inform others about them. Although I have never had any of their rare highly rated beers, I have had many of their flagships which have always been pretty solid. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced. This is one place I always try to go to when in Duluth.

Based on the reviews I was really looking forward to going to this place and was incredibly disappointed. I had a 6 beer flight and scored every one at least 0.5 below the average on here. The IPAs tasted like medicine. The food was OK and usually when the beer sucks the food is great but there was absolutely nothing about the place to make me ever want to go back.

Very cool, historic location on the shores of Lake Superior. The building and complex are kind of amazing, almost mazelike with shops throughout. It took a while to find the brewhouse where they serve the food.
The vibe there is old industrial. We were seated upstairs in a small, loft-like space. The carpet was pretty dingy and our table was a bit cramped but we still had a good time.
We tried their 7-beer sampler as well as a few individual pints. The beer quality ranged from near-awful to outstanding with the Cognac barrel aged wheat wine being the standout.
The food is excellent pub fare. The wild rice burger kills it.
Service was superb.
Pricing pretty much on par with most brewpubs.

As other reviews note, the brewpub is inside a very large multiple level complex in a old historic building right on the lake in downtown Duluth. Interesting shops and also a separate home brewing store and a store where you can buy brewery gear and growlers. Bummer that the brewpub isn't on the lake-side...in fact, though it is two levels, it has a fairly small and crowded and cramped feel to it, with little natural light...I could see how that might be cozy sometimes. It didn't put me off, though I was just there for lunch on a Sunday...in fact, I enjoyed the vibe, but I could see how it could get really loud and crowded in the evening. Anyway, I enjoyed the beer...their pales and IPAs kind of reminded me of Town Hall, though a little cleaner, and they had a decent selection of different styles. The food was pretty good...wish I would have gone for the wild rice burger...next time!

Got the flight which is 7 beers that they preselected. I wish places that did this would at least let you choose one or two of your own. Was not really impressed by any of the beers. They were ok but nothing that I would select again. The service was very good, our waitress was very attentive. The main reason for going to Fitgers is their Wild Rice burger. It is one of the better ones I have ever had and well worth the visit just for that.
There were a total of 11 beers on tap and 2 of that same 11 also available on cask.
