Poured from a corked and caged bottle courtesy of Abbbp into a Prairie Teku glass.

Appearance: Dark crimson/brown, with a beige head and moderate lacing. Head stays behind as a thick creamy crown.

Smell: Syrupy raspberries, balsamic vinegar, more vinegar.

Taste: Wow, this is too much for this big fan of sour, fruited beers. Super vinegary, and incredibly syrupy raspberry as well. Could only take a few sips before I had to drainpour. So sour it actually hurts. Yeah, I can't take this one.

Mouthfeel: Sticky, decently carbed. Lingers a while.

Overall: A huge disappointment. I don't drain pour beers easily, but this one was just way too sour for us. And the fruit was too syrupy. A swing and a miss by Upland/New Belgium. It seemed to me that I was drinking raspberry balsamic vinaigrette that had been pushed through a SodaStream. Just not a pleasant experience really.

awesome blend, i didnt even know this beer existed. for having only 10% raspberry beer blended in, it really tastes a lot like raspberries, tart and sweet and ripe and really authentic. the other main observation here for me is how sour it is, i mean, enamel peeling sour, so intense. it sort of looks and smells like a flanders red type, with the vinegar sourness and a dried fruitiness somewhere in the malt profile. lots of acid to this, citrus, lemons specifically in with the raspberries, and just a touch of chocolate malt type dryness. i love the funk, i love the musty wood on it, and overall this is really pretty excellent. i have not had any of the base beers blended to create this one, so its hard to say what each contributes, but the fruit is very forward and its a very complex drink. the surprise of the evening for me, in a session filled with a lot of world class beer. a real treat, pretty rare i assume, but grab one if you see it, delicious and some of the better work from new belgium in awhile.

Not bad. Balance of sugar and sour. Lots of over ripe raspberries.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep ruby body. Small off-white head. Thin collar.

Smell - Raspberry. Kinda vinegary. Oak and deep caramel.

Taste - Pretty sour. Lots of oak. Dark malts come through with a bit of roastiness. Intense sour cherry and raspberry. Sourness overwhelms in the end.

Mouthfeel - Very sour. Well carbonated and medium body.

Overall - Upland sours are always intensely sour and this is no different. The flavors are strong enough to stand up, though.

A-Deep brown in the glass, one finger white head that leaves some lacing.

S-Funk, caramel, brown ale-like base. Oak, grass, some dark fruits.

T-Starts with mild funk. Nice oak then a brown ale base. Ends with nice dark fruits.

M-Medium in body, nice carbonation.

O-A good collaboration, though I thought the LightSynth was a tad better.
