I taste some tropical and it has a little bit of hop to the finish. I guess I’m just confused about what they are trying to do here because I love pale ales and this does little to remind me of a pale ale. As an IU graduate, I will always support upland.

Appearance: Pours a fairly clean golden amber, but multiple bottles express with a huge head of fizzy overcarbonation. Points off.

Aroma: Wonderful tropical citrus and pineapple notes. Very nice.

Taste: Tropical fruits and coconut come thru very well, like a tropical cocktail or a pina colada in beer form. Taste is great, but the overcarbonation lost some points, for sure.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- pours a golden-yellow color with a huge frothy white head that lasts forever, before settling a bit to leave some lacing behind

S- smells of piney and citrus hops with light undertones of pineapple, slightly bready toasted malt

T- plenty up pineapple up front, followed by some pine resin and citrus hops. Toasted malt undertones, finishes with more pineapple

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a bit of a slick finish

O- nice pineapple notes throughout, this would make a great beach beer

Pours a hazy maize color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Poor retention and poor lacing. Smells of citrus hops, piney hops, hint of alcohol, hint of yeast, and a hint sweet malt. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of citrus hops, piney hops, hint of alcohol, hint of yeast, and a hint sweet malt. Overall, weak appearance, decent aroma, body, and blend.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Head dissipates pretty quick, mildly haze dull golden hue. Smells of mashed up pine apple, some hop resin, bready malt, and only a faintness of coconut. Smooth and a bit slick, bit of pineapple and hop bitterness to start. Decent malt base gives of some mild biscuity undertones. Kiss of alcohol, not really getting much coconut in this beer. Not half bad, just need a little something else.

Golden in color. A heartier color than a typical lager, etc. No head. Has a citrus smell to it. Pretty good taste. I'm not sure I necessarily can pick out the pineapple or the coconut

Appearance: Pours cloudy and honey colored with a very modest cap; leggy, with some dots of lacing

Smell: The Pina Colada tones of pineapple and coconut waft over the pithy hop and mango tones

Taste: The malt lays down a vague shortbread character, with some grapefruit and mango adding balance; through the middle, the pineapple and coconut make an entrance though there is more pineapple than coconut; rather juicy, in the finish though I did find some coconut in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: An interesting experiment that is fun to drink if not entirely satisfying

Thanks, TravisMason, for the opportunity

A - Copper orange, hazy, with a quick fade head that leaves traces of white over the top and minimal lacing.

S - Some acidic fruit is front, pineapple and papaya, coconut is hinted at, creating a nose reminding me of a pina colada experience.

T - A bit of sourness, the full range of tropical fruits, pineapple foremost, with mango, papaya, guava, and coconut notes, a bit of grapefruit particularly on the back end, and a mildly acidic close. A bit of biscuit malt, hint of cracker.

M - Brisk, pretty clean. Quite easy to drink.

O - A lovely experience, a reminder of summer pool drinks without any cloying sweetness, which is a real nice treat.
