L: Pours a hazy golden yellow with white head that dissipates quickly except for a thin ring around the glass.

S: Strong, funky barnyard smell.

T: Pleasantly tart apricot and ginger, some of the funky barnyard grass that’s in the nose, zingy lemon zest.

F: Acidic, medium to thin body but creamy, finishes dry.

O: It is fairly sour, and not sessionable, but one tastes quite nice. Overall very good sour wild ale.

16.9oz bottle poured into 14oz teku. Poured a solid orange-gold color with about an inch of white head that very good retention and very light lacing.

The aroma was led by a very tart scent, with some grain underneath. The label said apricot, but I got more of a peach scent, and just a hint of the noted ginger.

On the tongue, all those aspects were amplified. very nice tartness at the front, grain in the middle, and some apricot fruitiness at the back end.

The body was fairly typical medium-thin, and had an exceedingly dry finish.

Drinkability was very good, my bottle was gone easily enough, and I would like more.

Overall, a very good beer, A must try if you get the chance.

-sour aged on apricot and ginger.

A: A very pale lemon skin pour darkens a bit to a pale orange with a good dense nature. A heavy dense rising effervesce fills the vessel with much activity as an off white head quickly falls atop.

S: Sour burst of apricots are appreciated first on the nose, with some semi-sweet peaches of pretty good strength. Spicy ginger is also prominent along with some sour tangerine citrus and wheat contributions.

T: The flavor was sour oranges, tangerines, bittering grapefruit and some tart apricots for sweetness to balance. The ginger spicing added a bit of flair. The overall taste was very clean and sparkling, with some appplesauce yeastiness as well.

M: A full creamy body and mouthful had heavy resistance on the tongue with some good substance, o.j. like. Tart feel.

O: A big sourness effect, and very flavorful. Sour fruitiness with a clean feel and spicy ginger to boot. Pucker up.

$ 9.60 (Including tax and discount)/500 mL bottle ($ 0.568/oz) from Spec’s #100, DeZavala, San Antonio, TX. Reviewed 11/13/18.
“Bottled 18 Jan 2018” on back label. On shelf in the store. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 55 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
Body – Medium yellow, hazy, effervescent.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, dense, average retention, diminishing to a four to ten mm ring fed by effervescence and a thin rocky layer.
Lacing – Dense partial ring of tiny bubbles.
First pour – Light yellow, slight haze.
Aroma – 3 – Very weak generic fruit.
Flavor – 3.5 – Moderate amount of generic fruitiness. Ginger is marked by its absence. No hops, no malt, no alcohol (6.0 % ABV), no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Thin, watery, fizzy.
Impression and interpretation – 3.5 – Overall, it looks nice but is lacking in more important areas like aroma and flavor. Consequently, I feel it’s overpriced for what you get.
