Aronia pours with wonderful highlights of red and purple with a light pink head. Aromas of aronia, which has elements of cherry and blueberry, are apparent. Flavor is tart and enticing, with a fresh berry flavored finish. By blending a small amount of Crimson, the beer has a more moderate body to allow the fruit to meld with the mild cherry contribution of Crimson.

750 mL bottle. Pretty red body with a lightly pink head. Smells of berries and vegetal greenery. Tastes of sour blackberry and something like blueberry. Again, it's very green. A little red wine and oak. High carbonation and very dry. Not fully sold on this.

Bottle date December 2016, offered as part of the April 2017 sour lottery.
Aronia are a native plant to Upland's Indiana; I had never heard of them before, but my wife claims we have some in our back yard, so there you have it. In any case, this pours an attractive, translucent dark ruby, like a blend of cranberry and blueberry juice, with a finger of head that lingers. Nice tartness on the nose, reminiscent of a mix of tart cherry, blackberry, and black currant. Lightly carbonated fruit juice on the palate, tart but less acidic than some of Upland's other barrel-aged sours. Complex and enjoyable--I'm glad to have tried it.

Look is deep burgundy red with a finger of pink head that dissipates quickly into a ring.
Aroma is some sort of tart berry. Similar to a blackberry or currant maybe.
Taste is on point. Nice big acidic berry of some variety.
Feel is crisp and dry as carb is moderately high.
Overall a fantastic fruited sour that I will definately be on the lookout for again.

A very striking appearance of sparkling but hazy magenta, with an eager, fizzy light pink head.
I'm getting all sorts of cranberries and blueberries going on, with juniper, light funk, honey, maple, and a wet spring forest full of freshly fallen needles.
Really complex, and really enjoyable.
