a beautiful beer, way better than i ever remember their cherry lambic being, but that was a long time ago. instead of over the top acidity and vinegar, we get a sweeter, juicier cherry beer at the expense of the yeast culture profile, which i think is much to its advantage. pretty red in color, pink stained glass looking, bubbly on the pour but less so when i drink it, some sediment towards the bottom of the bottle mutes the glow, but there is heaps of cherry in here no doubt, and they burst in the nose and taste of this. my mouth waters from a clean acidic sourness, more puckery than the natural tartness of the fruit, but on a similar trajectory, and they go together well, champagne notes, smarties candy, and real fruit, lemons and cherries, light bright new red wine, musty oak, and earthy minerals. the beer is plenty sweet, but there is more than enough acidity to cut that down. i like how long the flavor trip is, ebbing and flowing on the palate for quite some time considering the finishing dryness, which is remarkable for how much cherry is here. its a little less wild than i would like, a manufactured sort of predictable sourness without the ambient weirdness that would set it off, especially with the wood, but this is a really good beer. faint hints of cinnamon, white wine, and red wine finish this off, cherry pop, lactic burn. good action here, thanks to my brother for sharing with me!

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 6/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/light copper color with a 1-2 finger foamy and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, plum, apricot, green apple, red grape, hay, straw, brown sugar, and bread crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, toasted oak, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, oak barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, plum, apricot, green apple, red grape, hay, straw, brown sugar, and bread crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, toasted oak, leathery/musty funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang; and light yeast/tannic oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/sour red/black cherries, fruit skin/pits, almond, lemon, plum, apricot, green apple, red grape, hay, straw, brown sugar, bread crust, light leather/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, oak barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, fruit tang, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.1%. Overall this is an amazing fruit lambic style! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, oak barrels, and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and insanely easy to drink; with the modestly lactic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Absolutely wonderful stuff, cherry pie in a glass. Loads of jammy, nutty, pitty cherry/stone fruit character with great Brett/Lacto complexity; nice oak presence and malt balance. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

A: Lots of Montmorency cherries on the nose, followed by light vinous notes.

A: Bright deep red color, opaque, with a fine dense light pink head that has adequate retention.

T: Baked cherry pie flavor upfront, followed by a moderate clean sourness with light funk and mild vinous character.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Tasty; the beer had great cherry aroma, but really comes together on the taste with baked cherry pie flavors complementing a clean sour complexity. Enjoyable to drink.

A: The beer is hazy purplish red in color. It poured with a quarter finger high pink head that died down a bit but never completely faded away, consistently covering the surface with a short head.
S: Moderate aromas of cherries and oak are preset in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of cherries—the types of sweet cherries that you get in cherry pie filling, but without any sweetness. There are notes of oak in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I really liked this wild ale. The cherry flavors reminded me just like cherry pie filling.
