Thanks to Dan (mdfb79) for this one.

Really hazy orange with sediment at the bottom. Nice small head retention. Was hoping for a little more pink or reddish color, doesn't look strawberry to me.

Smell is a great funky barnyard aroma ala cantillon but not quite as powerful or refined. Bright fruit, lighter wheat notes. No strawberry?

Taste has a little strawberry seed but I have to really try to get it. Bright fruit, small tart funk (not very sour). Vinegary bitter back and some buttery tastes too. Most of us thought maybe a little diacytl got in there.

Nice mouthfeel and spritzy carbonation. Pretty smooth, solid but not amazing lambic.

Living in Indiana, I should be hyping this, but just can't

Looks and smells good, but strawberry flavor is off and ends pretty dry. By far my least favorite of the Upland fruited beers.

Poured from a bottle shared by the lovely whiterascal into a tulip. Been wanting to try an Upland lambic for a while, so this is a special treat.

Upland makes eight styles of fruited sour ale, and this here’s the strawberry, hopped with 3 year old Hallertauer and aged in white oak casks for over a year until the brewery decides it’s time to toss in whole strawberries from Huber's Orchard in Starlight, Indiana. The beer then ages several more months in the barrel before it’s bottled.

Gusher! Tons of foam escapes, but we do our best to salvage what we can and pour it into our glasses. The liquid we salvage is a milky pineapple yellow, filled with creamy yeast (gushing will do that). An off-white head sits atop the brew for a few seconds and fizzles away after that, leaving behind a simple thin ring.

Super funky nose imparts hay and horse blanket aromas. Light hints of sweet strawberry and wheat bread. Subtly tart, but balanced by a soft, fruity sweetness.

The flavor is similar: very, very funky, with added hints of fusel alcohol, maybe like WD40. It’s crazy tart, with similar funky hay notes and only a bit of strawberry. For a beer billing itself as a strawberry lambic, there isn’t much of the fruit here.

The carbonation seems to have been lost in the eruption — this is pretty flat. The body, however, is a silky medium that’s quite nice.

Overall: funky! A tasty lambic that would be improved if the brewers stepped up the strawberry involvement.

Bottle shared at Hill Farmstead. Very fruity aroma, strawberries are very present with a nice little funky touch. Fruity sourness nicely balanced with oak and lactic notes. Could have leaned more towards the fruit. Light mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Very good beer, I wish I could try more of their offerings in the future.

Thanks to BA Verecund for this one. Poured from a capped and corked bottle into a Darkness sniffer. Shared with schen9303.

A: Pours a frothy ring of white that dissapates down to a layer of bubbles hugging the side of the glass. Beer is a semi cloudy bright orange. Lacing is not existent.

S: Nose is moderately aromatic. Oaky presence with a slight layer of Brett and strawberry tartness in the back. Twinge of booze. Tartness is rather sharp overall but pleasant.

T: Opens slightly Bretty. Cobwebs and bandaid. Oaky presence right after the initial funk with a strawberry tartness that settles in towards the middle. Dries out a bit towards the end with a Brett and heavy fruit finish. Aftertaste is more of the same. Very simple overall but spot on in terms of style and flavor emphasis.

M: Light to medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation. Smooth in the mouth with a slight presence of bubbles. Tart, puckering, and mildly dry going down with a crisp finish and a slightly lingering aftertaste. Very appropriate and refreshing.

D: This one is almost on par with Upland's Raspberry Lambic which has been one of my favorites. Not really a tradition lambic but more of an AWA and a very good one at that. Simple overall but very enjoyable. Worth seeking out!

Serving: 750mL bottle poured into a tulip. Bottled on 9/14/14, making this almost 10 months old.

A: Pours a hazy orange color, loads of fizzy carbonation. Cloudy. Looks almost like an IPA.

S: Cheese, hay, barn, grass. Slight notes of strawberry, but not super prominent.

T: Very, very tart. Super sour. Beyond all the sourness, a nice strawberry flavor comes in near the finish. Mostly a fresh strawberry flavor, but some elements of like a candy strawberry.

M: Sour, sour, sour. Great carbonation, but just can't get past how sour it is. Not undrinkable, but definitely don't wan't more than a small pour.

O: My second venture into the Upland sours, this one is way too tart for me. Flavors are nice, the strawberry comes through well. But just too sour. I would probably enjoy this more at a bottle share as a taster. No way could I have a whole bomber myself. Glad I split this at least.

Recommendation: Not the finest sour or lambic from Upland, and certainly not an entry-level beer for the new sour drinker. Pass unless you're already well versed in the style and want to try a nice new strawberry explosion.

pour is dark hazy orange and thin bubbly white head. The nose is heavy band aid and plastic. Dusty Brett and seedy strawberry with a light lactic note. The taste is solid, strong seedy strawberry, light band aid, dusty Brett, fairly sour, light lactic note. Assertive carbonation, fairly dry, light body.

Drank from the bottle...Pours a cloudy light brown, with decent retention and lacing...The aroma is distincly strawberry, sweet but not generic a little yeast and oak...The taste is mostly oaked strawberries, its still pretty sweet making it drinkable. Not the best of the lambics I've had to date but decent enough to give a shot.

Had this a couple of times, but reviewing from a bottle pour at FoBAB because that is the one that did not explode all over the place (at least in my presence).

A - Reddish copper colored beer with a little bit of an off-white head that faded to mere bubbles pretty quickly.

S - Somewhat tart strawberries, very sweet, little bit of funk. Reminds me kind of dirty strawberry preserves, although it's not necessarily bad.

T - Out of all the Upland lambics I've had, this is probably my least favorite one. Fruity strawberries, little bit of funk, fairly sweet, not particularly sour. It's not bad tasting, but it's kind of boring.

M - Lighter bodied, moderate carbonation.

O - Not bad, but not one I'd probably drink again and would be hesitant to purchase on their next release, although the Upland lambics do seem to get better every batch. As far as strawberry beers go, probably one of the better ones.33

Bottled 9/23/2010. Sampled alongside the other seven fruit lambics.

Gusher bottle bomb.
A: Pours a hazy golden peach color with a huge white head that quickly faded to a thin collar.
S: Tart citrus nose with just faint hints of strawberries and peaches. Floral and perfumey smelling.
T: Mellow flavors of strawberry jelly or jam with a citrus peel finish.
M: Medium-full body, chewy mouthfeel, fuzzy carbonation, low acidic bite.
O: Good but definitely a difficult flavor to impart. Not my favorite of the bunch, perhaps better fresh.
