Poured from a pint growler into a Petrus fluted goblet (I have no idea what you call this shape, but it seems well-suited to sours). The pour is hazy and light red in color with little carbonation. Lots of sour notes on the nose. I get strong white wine, vinegar, cherry aromas. Nothing funky or foul, just tart fruit and wine.

Light body and extremely sour, but still very drinkable. Up front I get white wine, lemon rind, and apple. Cherries hit me towards the back of the palate and linger on the finish along with lemon and a hint of apple cider.

I don't buy a lot of sours anymore, but I couldn't pass this one up when I saw it on the growler station. I've tried a couple of Upland's sours at bottle shares, but never reviewed one. Like the others I have tried, I would not recommend this one to a sour newbie.

Pours a very loud, effervescent head that quickly dissipates. Sour, muted aroma. Pink-ruby color. Starts with a very, very sour front; notes of cherry underneath. There is a touch of maltiness behind everything, and the cherry pairs well with this.

Overall, this is pretty good. It's got a nice, subtle cherry flavor that pairs well with the maltiness. Not as fruity as I like, but still very good.

Pours a beautiful hazy pink color with a fizzy white head. Aromas of pie cherries and loads of acidic tart aromas with more cherry skin in the finish. Flavored of fresh pie cherry and a big acidic sour flavor typical to upland but not as acidic as the kiwi. Light to medium bodied with high acidity and a crisp finish.

Characteristically sour base beer with a faint cherry flavor, mild oak presence, and a heavy bready finish with a lingering aftertaste.

This is a good beer to drink if you are just looking for something sour.

Tart cherry aroma, touch of funky sweetness.

Flavor is very sour initially, with a depth of cherry character that lingers and reminds me of pie filling. The sour flavor lacks depth a bit.

750ml bottle purchased at the Upland Tasting Room in Indianapolis.

A: Cloudy pink hue with a razor thin head and some bubbles in the body. No lace on my pour. Average appearance.

S: Bing cherries, flower petals, oak wood, strawberry jam, barnyard funk (horse blanket, wet hay), crab apple, and a mild yeastiness. Solid aromas that are consistent with the style.

T: Sour cherry, lemon juice, oak wood, moderate sweetness, and raspberry upfront; lightly drying finish with more sour cherry and woody flavours on the cough. Straightforward but satisfying palate.

M: Medium-bodied, soft carbonation, big sour tartness (bordering on puckering) transitions to an off-dry finish with lingering sour-woody afters.

O: A basic but enjoyable lambic that falls well short of greatness. Tasty and fun to try, but I probably wouldn't buy this again.

Large shared bottle in Atlanta.
Hazy reddish body with an excellent head.
Aroma: funky, cherry, yeasty.
Flavor: very tart and surprisingly bready. Cherries are evident, especially in the finish and early aftertaste.

Pours a murky light red with a foamy reddish-white head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour with grain, cherry, cherry juice, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour cherry, cherry juice, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with great sour cherry characteristics that are especially good in the smell.

Tried at a bottleshare. Sour but not over the top sour with some funk in it. A really solid sour and great cherry flavor. Definitely would not mind trying this again.

Best Upland sour that I have ever had. Fruit plus sour are perfectly balanced. Very drinkable, lacking the acetone like qualities of other Upland sours that I've had. Cherry flavor is very bright.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Murky deep red, almost purple. Medium white head,

Smell - Really acidic. Cherry. A little vinegar.

Taste - As with all Upland lambics, it's extremely sour. Overpowering. I get some cherry. The rest is just acid.

Mouthfeel - Unpleasantly sour. Medium low carbonation.

Overall - Outrageously sour. I don't know what I expect when I have one of these, but it's always the same.

Very appealing dark pink color with no head. Cloudy in appearance. Less sour than the other Upland Lambics I've had. Ripe cherries, raspberries and clean simple malt.

Cherry "Lambic", been wanting to try this Upland stuff for a looooong time and for some reason it hasn't worked out until now. Stoked!! Bottled 10.10.13, batch 12.08

A. Pours a rich burgundy with a thin pale pink head that fades to a thick collar. So far so good.

S. Nice whole sour cherries including that awesome cinnamon/almond smell from the pits. Touch of vinegar in there too.

T. Whoa, VERY sour is the first thing that hits me. Not crazy acetic, more like lemon juice on steroids. Some nice cherry in there but there's little sweetness to balance out that crazy sourness.

M. Medium body, very soft and smooth low+ carbonation.

O. Drinkability is just not there with this level of sourness. ...However, I do like sour stuff and a single glass of this is pretty fun. I would drink this again, but I definitely won't be going through this 750 with any haste.

Thinking the hype on this one is a pretty dated now. US sours have really come a long way in the last 5 years, both in quality and selection.

This is my first from Upland and I am impressed. It's a beautiful pour, color is hazy watermelon pink. The aroma tells you what you are going to get - sour and cherry. But it's all good - very clean and balanced. Looking forward to my next bottle from Upland.

750 ml bottled 10/10/2013. Served in a wine glass.

Appearance: Pours a dark ruby red color with less than a finger of a pinkish head that dissipates almost instantly. Body is only lightly hazy with some moderate visible carbonation.

Smell: Sour cherry, funk, oak, lemon vinegar and a slight herbal quality.

Taste: Huge blast of acidic sourness upfront which carries right through to the finish. Beneath that are lots of cherries and oak as well as some earthy funk, leather, vanilla, some lactic acid and lemon.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a somewhat slick mouthfeel and medium assertive carbonation. Finishes very sour with a decent amount of residual sweetness.

Overall: One of the most sour beers I've ever had. Lots of sour cherry, oak and a little bit of funk as well. I'd still prefer a good Belgian kriek over this, but it's still worth a try.

Very aggressively sour like most/all Upland lambic-style beers. The color is distinctly cherry, which is quite impressive. Looks like well carbed cherry juice. The smell is mostly tart but not overtly yogurty or too strong. I do get the cherry flavor despite the aggressive tartness from this beer. The flavor is actually quite good for how overtly tart this beer is. Unfortunately, 2 ounces was enough to give me that stomach burn feeling. I just don't understand why these Uplands have to be so aggressive in the sour/tartness. This is the second best I've had after Strawberry.

Bottled 10/2010.

Appearance: Upland Cherry pours a hazy orange color with ruby highlights. Upon pouring, a wispy white head forms, which has little retention and no lacing. Not the most attractive lambic I have seen by any stretch.

Smell: Smells primarily of lacto sourness and tart lemons, with slightly vegetal notes as well, and a hint of tart cherries.

Taste: Puckering lemon tartness and lacto notes. Again, slightly vegetal with perhaps a bit of cherry. Quite sour, but not all that complex.

Mouthfeel/Overall: Light bodied with fairly low carbonation. A pretty good feel overall. Perhaps could use a little more carbonation. Overall, a nice lambic. Definitely a high level of lacto sourness in this beer with the age. It could be more complex, as for me the cherries did not add anything to the beer other than more tartness. And the vegetal notes did not do it any favors either.

Hazy cranberry with a pink fizzy head. Active carbonation.

Sweet and tart cherry aroma. Vinegar. Cranberry.

Whoa buddy is it sour. Ludens cherry cough drops and cider vinegar. The finish is extremely tart and puckers the taste buds.

Thin but prickly mouthfeel. The sour really toughs the tongue up.

I found it very enjoyable but not complex with the flavors. It really pushes the boundaries of being too sour.

Bottle poured into an Upland bell tulip, a deep burgundy color, with a full inch of pinkish-purple head, which quickly fizzled down, settling at a mid-sized ringlet; thin lacing on the glass, and a steady stream of tiny bubbles rising from the bottom. Heavy cherry aroma, acidic, lots of lacto tartness, vinegar, red wine. There seem to be mixed reports on this beer, especially in the sourness department, but this bottle at least was VERY sour. Intense blast of tartness in the taste, sour cherries, acetic acid, lemon, tannins, notes of leather, red licorice, and I even picked up a subtle touch of cocoa, strange as it seems. Tart up front, tart in the finish. Medium body, crisp, prickly mouthfeel, and if I didn't say it before: very tart. No problems with this bottle, it's a very good sour overall, though I'm on duty to conquer this whole bottle myself tonight, so I'd better break out the Tums.

Nose nice sour cherry, little candied cherry, mild tart sour, light but nice funk,

Taste mostly juicy cherry, little tart sour cherry, fairly sour, little acidic bite, fairly bland overall though, doesn't seem to have a lot going on.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, decent carb, little acidic.

this is supposed to be some pretty special stuff, especially name dropping lambic so casually, and i was pumped to try it, but the experience was a letdown in retrospect. its hazy cherry red, like a ford mustang without the shine, sexy, but soft, pleasant. more carbonation than i am accustomed to in a lambic, which i like. the nose is fruity as anything, jammy, a tad sweet, but tart too, intensely so in fact, lactic and caustic almost, definitely too much to do a bottle alone. i get that from the smell alone. the taste is well fruited, not as authentic as some of its peers, but reasonable on the sugar and candy front. the sourness of this beer is aggressive, almost unnecessary, its punishing and coats the throat with a drying rough sensation like i swallowed one thousand sour patch kids at once. the fruit gets a little more sweet and fake seeming as it warms, but when i focus i can get fresh cherries. the sourness is a distraction from everything else, and the wheat malt base is simply not enough to convey the intended message here. carbonation is enjoyable, but the drying burning mouthfeel is annoying to me, it serves no purpose. a step short of something like motherfunker, but this is not an elite fruited sour in my eyes, still keen to try their kiwi and others, but this was in the B range at best.

A-Ruby red, good deal of carbonation, one finger pink head that doesn't last long.

S-Lots of overly sweet cherries, mild funk and oak.

T-Very sweet. Not artificial but just too sweet. Not that sour or tart even. Just too sweet and not sour enough.

M-Lighter, tad watery, not much carbonation.

O-I was expecting a lot better, but this beer was extremely sweet while not having much sourness to balance it out.

Bottle capped and corked old bottle. Thanks cpferris for hooking it up. Sampled alongside the other seven fruit lambics.

A: Pours a lightly hazy apricot color with a minimal head.
S: Mellow cherry nose with an earthy musty funk. Very mellow.
T: Like the nose, the cherry flavors are muted and mellow. Not as brightly flavored as the other flavors were, but this is also older. A bit spritzy with light citrus. Earthy must in the finish.
M: Airy carbonation, bubbly and greasy mouthfeel, smooth medium body. Very light tartness and subdued acid.
O: Very mellow and past its prime for sure. This flavor would have done better with less age. Did not hold up against the Belgian greats. Thanks again Chad.

App- A soft red with some pink and cream highlights. A small fizzy head was there and gone.

Smell- A prickly cherry and a stinging lactic note. Wasnt offensive smelling just needed to pop a bit more.

Taste- I thought it was better than average. Seemed to be aging nicely and still had a good prickly base with some nice cherry.

Mouth- A light body with a medium prickly carbonation level. Was a touch dry and I like that.

Drink- Nice little beer. Seems to be doing well and not offensive as some have said.

Taste is just more sour, not much cherry. Good, not great.

Mouthfeel is is what really does it for me with this beer. Very nice indeed.

Overall it is good, not great, but what do I know? Jeff said, and I quote, "I'm just gonna drink sours from now on," after having this beer, so that's gotta count for something. I'm gonna tweet that people should read this review. #CherryLambic #Upland #Bulls #BeatTheHeat
