Bottle from February of 2015.
This beer is drinking amazingly right now. The nose is just off the charts. Super fresh funky peaches. Taste follows suit.
I understand a lot of the super cool beer heads have written off Upland as "old hat", but this beer stands up to many of the new kids on the block.

Batch 15 poured into a HF stem. Golden yellow moderately opaque body, no head whatsoever. Looks still. Smell is very peachy with an emphasis on the skins. Plenty of funk. You can smell this is going to be sour. Sour hits you pretty hard when you first sip it. Lemon vinegary sour. Follow up is peach skins and lactic acid. Feel is medium body and moderately carbonated. While this certainly is almost overwhelmingly sour there's enough juicy peach skins to make it worth your while. Don't cellar this one, any more sour and this would be unpleasant.

Touch of acetone in the nose, but otherwise straight up ripe peach skins. More of the same in the flavirllir with sharp tartness and more huge peach, almost grapefruitish. Fruit lingers forever, puckering a bit. I understand this used to be more out of balance, but this is very under rated currently.

A - Orange, mostly transparent, with next to no head, even during the pour. No lacing, really, but a pretty beer.

S - Huge barnyard, backgrounded fruit notes, lactic acid in the form of sour cream. I want more peach. As it aged, the barnyard faded, and the acidity remains.

T - Acidic explosion, with fruit taste highlights that come forward in the middle and close, particularly as it warms. There is a lush lactic element, suggesting cheese, which fades with age. Fresh, there is some barnyard hanging around in the tail. Pretty typical for an Upland lambic.

M - Bright and highly acidic. The plus is that the carbonation is brisk, helping keep this moving, but the acidity is powerful, and not merciful.

O - I like a bit more balance to my sours, where the power of the acidity is played against sweetness and depth. With some age, there is some of that, and honestly, this is not very far from a great beer. The sweetness of the peach is utterly lost, and what remains is the bold acidity.

Thanks to brentlepping for bringing this one. This started off a mega bottle share.

A. Light straw color, not hazy, but not translucent either. Very coarse bubble initial head that quickly dissipates to no rim or film. Low effervescence.

S. Wow, the initial smell clinches my jaw, this is going to be sour. The sour yeast and bugs really jump out. This is followed by a moderate neutral oak component and a powerful fruit component, dominated by peach, but others such as persimmon and paw paw. A very southern USA fruit spectrum.

T. This is where I realize the nose was just the tip of the ice berg. Damn this is sour, very sour. A strong sour yeast component with a Nehi peach flavor, with moderate oak - all in a delicious way. This sour works well. This has great fruit flavor and remains dry, not sweet at all.

M. Jaw clinching, smooth, dry, very low carb, light body but not watery.

O. This was very impressive. I heard Upland had some good sours, but this certainly proved that reputation. This may have been the most sour beer I have ever tasted. I will search this out again and I will look into the release to make a trip to Hoosier'ville.
