Look is golden hay with a burst of white head that dissipates into nothing before you are done pouring.

Aroma is huge tart and some sort of fruit. I've never had a persimmon but the smell could be related to a peach or lemon. I'm not quite sure.

Taste is mouth puckering tart (in a good way) upfront, some kind of fruit mid palette, and finishes dry with a tartness that just won't quit. I'm loving it.

Feel is lively, crisp and dry. Carb is high as you can hear the carbonation upon pouring.

Overall a fantastic sour. The fruit isn't as recognizable as some of their others like cherry and peach but maybe that's just because I can't ever remember eating a persimmon. This beer is really good especially if you like sours.

I do love persimmons--possibly my favorite fruit, if they're good ones. That said, I've never had an Indiana persimmon. I learned to love them during the seven years I lived in southern California and got them directly from the local farmers' markets. That said, I'm not sure if this beer gives me much insight into local Indiana agriculture, because I don't get a lot of fruit from the ale. This batch bottled in January 2017 is still a classy, refined sour, to be sure, but not one imbued, or even tinged, with a particular lot of fruit flavor. I get a sour blonde with a suggestion of cinnamon and a bit of reassuring pulpy sweetness amidst a dry finish. Enjoyable, but given a blind lineup of fruited Uplands, I would have a tough time identifying this one as fruited, much less nailing the particulars.

A - Golden yellow body, superbly clear first pour, more cloudy during the second, bright throughout, with strong carbonation, very little head, no real lacing. Pretty.

S - Both fruit and fermented acidity. A hint of horse blanket and barn, grass and floral notes, all behind sharp acid.

T - Damn. Superb bright acidity in the open, a sweet tart type flavor, a middle that brings richer tart persimmon aspect, and the close closes with a mild bite.

M - Very sharp acidity, but not unpleasant for the style. And super clean - no sign of harsh chemical or muddiness.

O - This is a fine lambic from Upland, and it delivers with fruit and sourness. Delicious. So glad I got it.

Pours a light pale grain color with a fizzy head and more cloudy sediment come out as it pours. Aromas of sweet citrus, lemon, hints of grain and some lacto sour notes. Flavor has some sweet cutrus flavors upfron with a big sour bite and some grain in the finish. Mouthfeel is crisp ,light, and very sour.

Appearance - The beer was a brilliant orange color with a white head.

Smell - There is a sour orange presence that is fairly strong.

Taste - The initial impression is a rich, Earthy sour orange. The richness makes me think of tomato juice. Persimmon, as I am told, is a brutally sour orange. The sour sticks with a sense of oak in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - A sour with tomato juice like mouthfeel.

Overall - Besides Pawpaw, this is Upland's best work.
