Large layer of creamy tan head. Leaves some lace. Color is black.

Flavor profile: when cold the raspberries dominate this beer. Very tart. I let it warm up to get some other flavors. Rich chocolate. Caramel and molasses. Some toffee and cherry flavors. Roasted malts.

Mouthfeel: tart, roasted, dry. Full bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall, a solid variant. The raspberry is very dominant until it warms. Enjoyable.

On tap at the brewpub. Served in a Town Hall chalice glass.

Appearance: Color is pitch black. Moderate rising bubbles. Big three finger tan head that holds up pretty well and leaves a lot of creamy lacing.

Smell: A roasty, sweet, and fairly tart smelling dark malt forward aroma with big hints of raspberries. Dark roasted barley malts with big hints of dark chocolate and coffee beans as well as hints of toasted bread, biscuit, caramel, toffee, lactose, and yeast. Huge scent of sweet and tart raspberries. Also some subtle dark fruit hints of cherry, prune, and raisin. Sweet hints of molasses. Hops are very light. A pretty nice smell.

Taste: Like the smell, a sweet, tart, and roasty dark malt driven taste with a big presence of raspberries throughout. Dark roasted malts with big notes of dark chocolate, dark roast coffee, burnt toast, biscuit, caramel, toffee, milk, lactose, and yeast. Big taste of tart and sweet raspberries that are infused very well. Also some subtle dark fruit undertones with notes of dark cherry, raisin, and prune. Sweet notes of molasses and brown sugar. Very light earthy hop notes. A very good taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a fairly high level of carbonation. Very creamy to the point that it seems like it came from a nitro tap, maybe it was but I forgot to ask. Nicely tart and smooth feel with very little alcohol heat. Finishes fairly dry.

Overall: A very good twist on an already very good imperial stout. The raspberries add a good fruity kick without overwhelming the dark malt notes.
