a beautiful stout with a ton of coconut in it. it always seems like none of the famous ones they make are available when i go in here, which is never that big of a disappointment because it gets me drinking some other fabulous creation of theirs, but i was lucky to score some of this on my visit! its cool to have a stout this well regarded and flavored not be 10% abv or something, i immediately love the lower alcohol content, i adore stouts and often regret that i cant drink a ton of the huge ones, so here is a beer that checks all the boxes for me, including drinkability! its a little still in the glass, just some lazy bubbles rising up through the thick and shiny black beer, mellow and relaxed looking. so much coconut in both the smell and the taste of this. i get fresh coconut cream, rich and fatty and smooth and tropical, but also a more nutty, desserty, and toasted sort of coconut, which really calls up the heavy dark barey in here, roast and coffee and bitter, cocoa too, vanilla, and even a hint of walnut or something, there is even a creaminess about it, thank the lactose maybe, but the beauty of this is that its not all that sweet, coconut flavor abounds without an unnecessary or unflattering amount of residual sugar! i like the dual coconut character in here, and reckon its a bit more complete than a lot of these, furthermore, not having a ton of sugar and grain to get the abv through the roof means less interference and a more true coconut presence well short of the absurdity needed in bigger beers. it also highlights a more careful mash bill, which is positively dialed here. this tastes incredible, earthy somehow too, bitter and balanced at the end, coconut burps! this is really fabulous stuff, and while part of me wishes for more carbonation, the other part of me likes it so smooth and mellow, it slows me down and lets the flavors sink in. worth the hype all the way!

12oz tap at Town Hall Station in Edina. Too cold from tap, but had time to allow beer to warm up.
Very dark body, thin tan ring, with some lacing.
Aroma and taste is of fresh coconut, dark malt and chocolate.
Taste also included the sweeter lactose. The fresh coconut really shows up at the end.
Silky smooth mouth feel.
Well done milk stout is one likes coconut (and fresh tasting at that).

Amazing local MSP brew that I have had on my hunt list for years! Finally had at a share in line for BA Chainsmoker! Silky smooth Milk Stout with a heavy dose of coconut! Need more!!

This is a great coconut Milk Stout. Lighter bodied than expected but it is silky smooth, with decadent layers of roasted coconut, rich chocolate and lactose.
