Taster flight at brewpub. Clear, dark golden, small head leaves abundant streaky lacing. Like with the ESB, the aroma is barely there. Taste brings in oranges and orange peel, and a hint of blood orange. Lightly sticky. Minor hop tingle, but finishes fast.

This was one of the first THB beers I ever tried, way back, and I remember finding its use of Amarillo was great. It has been a while since I've had it...but here goes. Served in a nonic, pours a clear deep dark copper with an almost off-white head with good retention. Hmmm, this is good but I'm not finding it quite as great as I remembered it. Nose and Taste are completely in line with one another: lots of ripe citrus, a little tangerine peel bitterness, and a little earthy spiciness, and a whole lot of caramel bready maltiness. Body is a little heavier than an ideal pale, imo, and though the flavors all come together, with a hoppy bitterness, the body affects the finish. My palate might be affected by Simcoe smash I had before this one, but it isn't quite singing the way I remembered it. Still good, though.

another really tasty hop driven beer from these guys. this one is very much in the english style, hops balanced by a richer crystal malt with a nice caramelized sort of flavor, and it is spiked with orange peel, giving it a clean citrus complexion but also with the grain a nice baked dessert vibe, really pretty layered and complex. a shade lighter than copper in color with a tall white head. smells like oily and bitter orange peel, with a grassy and piney hop profile, the two work really well together. the grain is bready and just a touch sweet, its an awesome base for the more summery flavors in here, and it provides some needed body. nice job with the hops here, very fresh and forward, and balanced just enough. carbonation is higher throughout, which makes me appreciate the larger body even more, big but quick, hearty but also refreshing. these guys have the hoppy stuff on lock and this this definitely another great one. one of the better citrus added pales or ipas i have had in this recent trend.

On tap at the brewpub. Served in a standard shaker glass.
Appearance: Pours a deep golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of white head with decent retention.
Smell: A pretty nice crisp and juicy aroma with hints of citrus and floral hops. Citrus hop hints of orange, grapefruit, melon, and lemon along with the added orange peel. Hints of floral and herbal hops. Soft malt hints of caramel, biscuit, cracker, and yeast. Pretty citrus forward.
Taste: Like it smells, juicy and earthy with some good notes of citrus fruit and herbs. Upfront citrus notes of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, melon, and apricot. Also some floral and grassy hops with some pine. Pale malt notes of caramel, grains, cracker, and yeast. A very solid taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, clean, and drying.
Overall: A pretty solid citrus forward Pale Ale. Good juicy orange citrus flavor with a moderate body and bitterness.
