another really tasty hop driven beer from these guys. this one is very much in the english style, hops balanced by a richer crystal malt with a nice caramelized sort of flavor, and it is spiked with orange peel, giving it a clean citrus complexion but also with the grain a nice baked dessert vibe, really pretty layered and complex. a shade lighter than copper in color with a tall white head. smells like oily and bitter orange peel, with a grassy and piney hop profile, the two work really well together. the grain is bready and just a touch sweet, its an awesome base for the more summery flavors in here, and it provides some needed body. nice job with the hops here, very fresh and forward, and balanced just enough. carbonation is higher throughout, which makes me appreciate the larger body even more, big but quick, hearty but also refreshing. these guys have the hoppy stuff on lock and this this definitely another great one. one of the better citrus added pales or ipas i have had in this recent trend.

I had this on-tap at Town Hall Tap. Served in a standard pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a slightly cloudy amber color with a layer of off white head that sticks around quite nicely.

Smell: I'm getting some toasted malt along with a nice citrus hop note. This isn't a very strong smelling beer.

Taste: Nice balance to this beer. Citrus peel hops along with a slightly fruity hop component. The finish is hoppy and rather bitter.

MouthfeeL: Medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I thought this was a really solid pale ale. The hop profile was very well done and it was quite easy to drink. I'd have another.

On tap at Town Hall in June 2010. Reviewed from notes.

Pours a nice orange-copper color tending toward orange with a nice white head and a good amount of lacing. The nose is really quite nice with a good dose of hops and a lot of orange peel. The taste is a bit bitter with some nice orange...well, marmalade. Feel is nice and bitter with a bit of orange pith. Drinks quite well; nice and sessionable.

"Marmalade"...not, "Marmelade"...no wonder I couldn't find this listing...well, here's what I thought...

from Wikipedia: "Not to be confused with Marmelade, a town in Haiti."

I'm picturing myself on a boat on a river, with tangerine trees and...

Lightly clouded, apricot/tangerine appearance, nice, strong & sturdy off=white head...ain't nothing' wrong with it.

Aroma: Estery, dark fruit, grape, cherry, and orange, ripe and lively, yet soft and lovely...nice. Beautiful.

Taste: Mmmmm. Full-bodied, great feel on the palate, nice heft in the mouth, Vibrant hop presence, full malt feel. Orange flavor jumps in and out, and bumps around, says Hi and submerges. Yum, I say. And, mmmm, mmm. Wonderful bitterness.

Well-made ale, this. I can drink it, and be happy, and drink some more. Best shared with a girl with kaleidoscope eyes....

Always on the lookout for a good session beer I had to try this seasonal when I was at Town Hall in Minneapolis.

Beer is orange and hazy and forms a head of medium bubbles. Lacing is high and carbonation is moderate. Head has a lot of staying power. Looks interesting.

Aroma is a little weak but kind of citrusy but not like hops more like an orange...oh Marmelade sky...I get it.

Beer is light in body and has some mild bitterness at the back end of this beer. There is some nice fruity character in the middle of this beer but the sourness of oranges doesn't come through at all. There is a hint of some kind of orange peel, mild citrus hop character. Interesting overall but not my favorite APA.

Had an imperial pint at the newly opened Town Hall Tap. I thought this made a great session beer, sort of a pale ale with British influence. There was a cloudy amber body with a two finger white head. The aroma and flavor were full of orange and citrus notes. Mild biscuit malts provided a bit of balance, but the earthy and clean orange notes are delicious. Check this beer out for a fresh take on an old style.

Bronze body. Thin dirty white head. Lacing is quite sufficient. Nice aroma. Definite marmalade orange malt base. Splashes of citrus abound. Lemon, tangerine and grapefruit. Flavor follows suit. Caramel malt base with hints of orange marmalade. Bright citric hop tones accent nicely. Nice fruitiness with tangerine, orange, lemon and a little watermelon?? Bitterness is pretty clean. Great drinker. Finishes clean and smooth.

This beer arrived a cloudy orange color. The head is half on inch in height, and recedes quickly into a small cap of lacing. The aroma is of grapefruit with other citrus notes. The taste is quite bitter for a pale ale with some citrus note. Quite honestly, I thought the bitterness masked the taste of the beer too much for my liking. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a nice beer. However, being that Town Hall makes so many great beers I can't see myself drinking this again.

On tap at the brewpub. Served in a standard shaker glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of white head with decent retention.

Smell: A pretty nice crisp and juicy aroma with hints of citrus and floral hops. Citrus hop hints of orange, grapefruit, melon, and lemon along with the added orange peel. Hints of floral and herbal hops. Soft malt hints of caramel, biscuit, cracker, and yeast. Pretty citrus forward.

Taste: Like it smells, juicy and earthy with some good notes of citrus fruit and herbs. Upfront citrus notes of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, melon, and apricot. Also some floral and grassy hops with some pine. Pale malt notes of caramel, grains, cracker, and yeast. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, juicy, clean, and drying.

Overall: A pretty solid citrus forward Pale Ale. Good juicy orange citrus flavor with a moderate body and bitterness.

Had this on 2012-08-16 in Minneaplolis, MN at the brewery (from tasting notes)

A - Orange gold with a 1-finger tan head and decent lacing.

S - Light orange flesh, pale malt and a whiff of hop floral (food odors present).

T - Hop forward, then orange marmelade and oragne zest. Light malt, crushed hop bud grass and tea. Dries quickly with a lightly-lingering citric bitterness and bits of the aforementioned flavors. Tastes great. Not sweet like the name would suggest.

M - Light-medium body and medium carbonation. Crisp, refreshing and a little prickly.

O - Definitely one of the top contendors in the sessionable pale ale category.

Stopped by Town Hall quick after work to grab a couple growlers and had to try this. Drank from a generic pint glass.

Appearance- Pours a chill hazed orange with a big beautiful one finger bright white head. A thin cap and thick collar remain along with plenty of thick rich lacing.
Smell- Lots of orange peel is apparent in this one. It's nice and fruity and just has that Town Hall hop smell. A touch of grapefruit and pine is noticeable but the orange rules the roost.
Taste- Starts with a nice bitter bite that is fruity and definitely contains traces of orange. The Amarillo's are noticeable but the orange peel really covers the natural sort of fruitiness of the hop. Maybe a touch of pine mixes in but nothing too over-the-top. A kiss of malt on the finish but very little as the orange peel lingers and lingers.
Mouthfeel- Medium body with a bitter, almost quenching feel with a nice smack of carbonation.
Drinkability- Really dug this one. The orange is certainly dominant but not too much or too out of whack with anything else. Easy drinking as hell and fairly unique. This beer is exactly what I though Tyranena's Scurvy was going to be like. This is 10x better though.

Review from notes:

Poured from a growler dark orange/amber, good sized white head, sticky lacing

Lovely citrusy aroma, lots of orange and pineapple, very little in the way of pine. Juicy fruit-centric and I love it!

More orange in the nose than in the flavor, but there's plenty of orange peel characteristics, lightly bitter, great balance between sweet, citrus juiciness and the hops. God I love Amarillo hops!

Good body on this beer, medium full, perfect for a pale ale.

Great drinkability. The low(er) ABV made this one easy to quaff, but the hops can take over after time. A couple tulips out of the growler was perfect.
