On nitro tap at the brewpub. Served in a standard shaker glass.

Appearance: Color is a dark brownish amber. Big three finger beige head with decent retention. Lots of creamy lacing.

Smell: A very roasty and creamy dark malt driven aroma with big hints of coffee, toast, and cream. Dark roasted malt with upfront hints of coffee beans, toasted bread, chocolate, and cream along with some milk, vanilla, biscuit, caramel, nuts, and yeast. Hop presence is very light. A pretty good roasty aroma.

Taste: Like the nose hints at, a nicely roasty, creamy, and sweet dark malt forward taste with big notes of coffee, chocolate, and cream. Dark roasted barley malt with upfront notes of roasted coffee beans, chocolate, toasted bread, biscuit, caramel, yeast, and nuts along with sweet notes of vanilla, cream, and milk. Subtle presence of dark fruit. Very little hops. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with medium to high level of carbonation. Very creamy, silky, and smooth with a fairly drying finish.

Overall: A very good take on a coffee Porter. Good roasty coffee and chocolate notes with a nice boost of cream from the nitro.

Nitro at the brewpub. Coffee and smooth mouthfeel. Oily chocolate. Very drinkable. Works on nitro. Hits the spot as a coffee porter. Something to have as a regular beer.

Enjoyed this beer numerous times at the Town Hall Tap in S. Minneapolis.

Deep brown verging on black with only a moderate taste. There's an olfactory coffee roaster going on. The coffee taste is strong, but unlike so many coffee stouts I've had, these guys know how to do coffee beer. A little bit thin on the mouthfeel and perhaps a little long on carbonation, but all in all this is great stuff.

By the way, the Pretzels at THT: Best. Appetizer. Ever.

This beer arrived a dark brown, nearly black color. The head is half an inch in height, and recedes slowly leaving rings of lacing down the glass. The aroma is of roasted malt, coffee, and milk chocolate. The taste is similar to the aroma. It is very well balanced between the roasted malt and the coffee with the chocolate component twisting through everything. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a silky texture, and appropriately moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a very well crafted beer. I will surely be making this a regular when I'm drinking at Town Hall Tap.
