Our interpretation of the classic ale that originated in Glasgow, Scotland. A full-body ale, rich in malt complexity. Brewed with both English and American barley and many, many specialty malts allowing hints of roasted chocolate, caramel and raisins with very little hop presence.

Pours kind of a brownish amber color. Sweet caramelly bready malts dominate with some fruity esters. Not much in the way of balancing hops, but this is pretty consistent with the style. A bit too sweet for my own taste but still nicely done.

L: On tap at the brewery. The glass is filled to the rim with a dark mahogany liquid with a slight chill haze. S: Malty caramel nose with a slight hint of banana. T: Slight roast, caramel, toffee and slight chocolate, a little anise in the finish and not a lot of hop presence. F: medium full body, medium carbonation – a little more than it needs. O: A good Scotch ale that borders on brown ale territory..

On tap at brewery. Deep reddish hue with minimal carbonation. Taste is unbalanced with hops predominating the taste. Not what I expect in a scotch ale. Expect much more maltiness with this style.

On tap at the brewpub.
Served in a pint glass.
Good looking red-amber body topped by a decent head.
This is a solid mainstream Scotch Ale that is at least on par with the typical version found in Scotland. Plenty of medium malt flavor and no off-notes in the nose or taste.
