Tumaltuous, Wheat Wine, 9.9%

Clear, golden/amber hue, large, attractive head, leaving lace.

Sweet aromatics, but very even, some honey and fruit, pale malt, lightly floral.

Taste: forward flavor right off the bat, flush with intensive malt flavors. Light hop bitterness. High alcohol shows it's hand early. Coarse mouthfeel from rich textures. Thickness aplenty. Lacks something in the flavor, though, doesn't quite have enough interesting flavors. Doesn't reach close enough to deliciousness, here. Satisfying, yes. Truly tasty? Not so much.

Overall, the high ABV rings too loudly, too quickly, and there's not enough payoff in the flavor.

Down for the 3 Hour Tour release. What a zoo!! Drank from a genetic tulip.

Appearance- Delivered a surprisingly crystal clear honey yellow with a small white cap. Thin collar sticks around most of the beer and a random lace or two.
Smell- Lightly floral and fairly weak - the nose is very much lacking. A light earthy tone that reminds me very much of honey is definitely present. Slightly doughy with a hint of sweetness but all in all kind of lame.
Taste- Thankfully much more intense than the nose. The beer starts with an earthy, almost herbal kick that reminds me a lot of juniper berries. Very dry and nearly quenching with notes of bubblegum and Twizzlers. Really floral as well with plenty of lilac and rose water, especially in the finish. The overall finish is a long lingering herbal bite that hasn't an inch of warming. Can't believe this is 9.5%.
Mouthfeel- Fairly thin, especially for the style with a nice crisp bite of carbonation. Exceedingly dry (nice!)
Drinkability- Overall this beer is really delicious. It isn't All that Wheat Wine-ish but still good. If someone asked me to guess what style it was I'd say Braggot after 2 sips. It’s just so dry and id swear this was chalked full of honey. Enjoyed for the most part but that nose is pretty weak.

Had this on 2011-11-18 at the downtown brew pub.

A - Hazy straw with 1/2-finger off-white head and lots of lacing.

S - Mild, sweet wheat grain. Note, there were significant food smells at the time I tasted this so there may have been more to aroma than I could observe at the time.

T - Honey, significant sweet wheat, some citrus flesh and a nice dollop of citrus bitterness. All these flavors carry into the aftertaste in a well-balanced way. The alcohol is present but well-integrated. The finish is of sourdough, touch of honey and plenty of bitterness. Really good.

M - Medium-heavy body and light-medium carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

O - First time I've had a wheat wine and I liked it quite a bit. It reminds me of a Bell's Hopslam, which is high praise indeed.

A: clear amber golden color with a nice head, stickiness, and retention.

S: citrus hops, honey, malt, and bread. Smells pretty awesome.

T: nice hop flavor with the citrus and floral pieces. There is a large thick grain part of this beer that invades the hops in the middle, then gives way to the malty and bitter aftertaste.

M: medium to thick body, medium carbonation, nice all the way around

O: not sure why this is a wheatwine rather than an IPA with a ton of wheat...I guess it's the grains that count. Interesting take on the style, and I like it because I like hops.
