12oz bottle, part of the current stout-only mixed pack from Saugatuck. Kind of a forced pun in this one's moniker, IMHO.

This beer pours a clear, very dark cola brown colour, with two fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly creamy tan head, which leaves just a low ebbing berm of lace around the glass as it evenly recedes.

It smells of rich cafe-au-lait, Bounty chocolate bars, bready and slightly roasted caramel malt, and a bit of musty and earthy hop bitterness. The taste is more cocoa-swathed fleshy coconut, toasted caramel and toffee, ethereal milky coffee, and some very plain earthy and weedy hoppiness.

The carbonation is adequate for the support job at hand, via its comely frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and very smooth, with a nice creaminess evolving as the ambient temperature increases. It finishes quite off-dry, the lingering chocolate, caramel, and coconut all representing well.

Overall, this is a pretty tasty and engaging flavoured stout, the guest copra ingredient really doing a swell dance number with the roasted malt essences. Not overly complex, and maybe a tad too sweet to engender a desire for multiple rounds, but good in its own right - all Star Trek humour aside.

DATE: November 19, 2017... OCCASION: just celebrated Shan's birthday at the Tap House... GLASSWARE: Guinness retro pint... pours a jet-black body that crackles with bubbles around the glass... its head is off-white, almost oatmeal in color, with various-sized bubbles that are spotty and blotchy... heavy coconut couples with some rum-like accents to produce an approximation of suntan lotion... some dairy-like lactics suggest potential sweetness, while light perfume fragrances create an enjoyable sense... first sip is lively, impressing itself at the throat with a flourish, while the presence at the teeth is passive... easy-drinking for a medium-bodied beer... besides its resounding coconut, some chocolate, half and half cream sweetness, soft toasted malts, and a marshmallow-esque fluffiness... I find this one intriguing, and among a case of stouts, this is a fun start...

Bottled 2/27/18. Poured into a tulip glass.

Pour: deep dark brown with very little head despite an aggressive pour. Tan head fades to a collar with small amounts of lacing.

Nose: coconut is definitely present but mixes well with slight rum, dark fruit, some dark chocolate.

Taste: coconut, but like nose, not overpowering. Cola, root beer, rum, dark chocolate, brandied fruit. Bread malts, some burnt toast. This is pretty complex and very enjoyable. And, I’m not even a coconut fan.

Mouth: really good. Fairly high carbonation but very fine bubbles that feel great in your mouth. Some oiliness and viscosity leave it feeling full, not watery. Again, very pleasant.

Overall: I really enjoyed this beer. I’m not a coconut fan but this is subtle and well balanced with a complex blend of flavors. Worth trying and one I’ll go back to when available.

Beam Me Up Stouty brewed by Saugatuck Brewing Company, with an ABV of 4.70% This American Stout pours out a deep brown color with a nice light brown head. The brew has the look of cola, not saying that is a bad thing. There is also a nice amount of spotty lacing to this brew, it does stick to the side of the glass. The smell is rich with roasted grains, malts and sweetness. Really mild on the hop bitterness, but it is there . So far this is a nice inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is Bold and Rich with flavors. You first pick up on the bold roasted grains and malts. Then a nice smooth sweetness of coconut and hints of chocolate. The coconut is a nice touch to this American Stout. The body of Beam Me Up Stouty is a solid medium. There is nothing overpowering about this American Stout, it has a super nice balance to it. This brew would go nice on any occasion in my opinion. If you are looking for a easy drinking stout you should look this one up. The mouth feel of this stout is Bold, Rich, Sweet, Roasted, Clean, Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I'm going to give Beam Me Up Stouty a 4.25 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again giving the opportunity to. Saugatuck Brewing Company did a super nice job with this American Stout.

12 ounce bottle, packaged 090717. Served in a Spiegelau stout glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a half inch tan head that stuck around for a bit. There's a decent amount of lacing. Aroma is nice and sweet, it mostly smells like coconut, but also some roasted malt, chocolate and coffee too. Taste pretty much follows the aroma, it mostly tastes like coconut but there's also some milk chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and a bit of smokiness noticeable. Has a nice Almond Joy/Mounds flavor. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall "session" stout (since it's just 4.7% ABV), it's easy enough to drink and certainly worth picking up if you like coconut and/or sweet stouts! Thanks to my buddy Denis for giving me a bottle of this.

Pours a very nice deep black stout color but the damn head sizzled out faster than a fast food soda! Smells pretty coconut to me very sweet with some toasted malt and chocolate. Very artificial coconut taste mixed with possibly the wateriest stout flavors I ever experienced next to a Guinness Stout Nitro!

Overall this beer isn't terrible but it is coconut chocolate water with little beer flavor so I guess I hate it.

Light hazelnut brown pour forming a rather dark brown to black body in the glass. The head is 1 finger to start and diminishes to half that, bubbly and light beige in color.

Genuine coconut shavings, milk chocolate, and roast malts all come together gloriously on the nose. Nothing more, nothing less.

The coconut takes a back seat, and instead supplements the sweetness of the abundant lactose displayed here; the lactose is definitely the loudest element here, and light chocolate and carafe malts follow faintly behind to supplement. I would almost dare say that the coconut is not present in the body - but it's definitely mixed in there to HELP - not HINDER - the overall profile. Sweet coconut finally pops up on the finish. Excellence.

Feel is medium bodied, and delightfully carbonated with just the perfect roasted finish.

Overall - this may be one of the best mild stouts I've ever drank. It's on par with Saugatuck's other namesakes like Neopolitan and Blueberry Maple. This one doesn't overdo it on the sweetness though, and has a lot going for it. Damn I wish I would have picked up another 12 pack of variety stouts.

Another one from the mixed stout 12 pack. Poured into a pint glass, the beer is dark brown with a decent tan head and lacing.

I get roasted malts, chocolate and coconut on the nose.

The taste is nice. Lots of roasted malts, dark fruit, coconut (not overpowering), chocolate and some gentle smoke flavors. Beer is sweet with some pretty nice facets that add a bit of complexity and depth.

The mouth is solid and yeoman like.

I have enjoyed every one of the stouts in this 12 pack. I would not hesitate to buy it again.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/6/2017. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, coconut, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of vanilla, toffee, smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, coconut, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of vanilla, toffee, smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, coconut, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark/brown bread, light vanilla/smoke, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, and velvety mouthfeel that is great. Slight sticky hops, chalky roast, and increasing dryness. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a very nice flavored stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coconut, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the very mildly bitter finish. Very flavorful for the low ABV, with a great mouthfeel. Great balance of rich stout malt complexity and coconut flavorings. Well restrained and never overpowering on the coconut. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured out a jet-black color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It smelled of coconut, chocolate and roasted malt. Sweet chocolate flavor with hints of coconut with a toasty kick.
