Absolutely amazed by this beer. Pours with heavy notes of blueberry and maple.

Deep Brown and sweet with maple notes this beer finishes like a charm nice and smooth.

Highly recommend this one for a fishing trip in the cold.

Naugatuck Brewing Co. "Blueberry Maple Stout"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, no apparent freshness dating

Wow, what an interesting beer. I like it a lot more than I thought I would. It starts off like a stout, delivers the maple flavor across the middle, and then finishes with a refreshing flourish of blueberry. I initially thought to myself "I could drink quite a few of these but unfortunately I don't think that's the case as it does build on you a little bit, with the maple and blueberry sticking around a little bit too long. It's got a soft carbonation, and a fair bit of body, so perhaps that helps to allow it to stick to the palate. To have just one, however, is quite the charm. For whatever reason it reminds me of camping in Maine, and relaxing after dinner as the sun set over Moosehead Lake. Nice.

Served on tap at Hopcat Detroit. Tulip glass. Dark and opaque, with a finger of mocha head that creates attractive sticky lacing. Thick and creamy feel, with the aroma of roasted coffee and cocoa, and sweet maple. Taste is amazing. Roasted, smokey bitterness mixes with sweet maple and tart blueberry to create the impression of maple bacon, coffee, and blueberry crumbcake. This stout is a complete breakfast in a bottle. Must have when available.

Jan 5 2018 vintage. Poured into a tulip glass.

Pour: deep black with a nice one to two finger head. Dissipates slowly leaving a collar but little lacing.

Nose: lots of blueberry with maple. No surprise. But really pleasant and not overdone. Smells like blueberry syrup.

Taste: similar to the smell with a little coffee, roasted malts and slight hop bitterness on backend that lingers a bit. As many have said, it’s like having blueberry pancakes with maple syrup. The other impression was drinking blueberry juice with a little maple syrup added. Really tasty, well balanced, easy to drink. The nice balance of the blueberry and maple sets this one apart from similar brews.

Mouthfeel: very slight carbonation, a little thin relative to what I expected but still coats the tongue nicely. Interestingly, well after drinking, My mouth still felt like I had just eaten a handful of ripe blueberries. Very pleasant.

Overall: this is a nice change of pace. Not something I would drink all the time but it would be an easy one to pick up once in a while. A reasonable 6% ABV makes it even easier to drink any time.

Pours a deep ruby tinted bdy with chocolate brown head that dissipates to a beige lace. The scent is almost completely maple and blueberry, not much stout. The taste is then heavy on a sweet maple flavour, with baked blueberry popping through as well. The feel is grotesquely sticky like maple syrup, and clings much longer than it should. This trend for making beer that is so wildly sweet bewilders me.

I'm not a huge fan of things that are overly sweet, but I do like blueberries with maple syrup. Combining these flavors with stout is an interesting idea, indeed. Overall, this comes off fairly well. It's not something I would want to drink too much of, but it certainly fits the season!

What it says is what you get. Do you like blueberries? Maple? Stout? Then this is a beer for you. Sweet, sticky, yet a nice, light body. The perfect beer for a Canadian like me. I wanna see this in Canada full time!

Day 14? Of the Craft Beer Advent Calendar. I really need to stop getting behind on my days :/ hahaha

L: Dark black with a nice light brown head that stays for a while.

S: Blueberry, and blueberry, and a little more blueberry with a slight malty sweetness to it.

T: Sweet maple syrup, with a nice blueberry taste, has a nice blueberry finish to it as well that lingers!

F: Full mouth feel but tastes like a lighter beer in alcohol content.

O: A quite enjoyable beer from Saugatuck, I'm skeptical about there beers cuz they are a very hit or miss brewery.
