Served in a snifter glass. Nominal head. Deep brown color. Slightly peated aroma. Taste is excellent. Smooth with peat at back end. Mouthfeel is good. It’s definetly not a beer for everyone. But we’ll done.

Pours a 25 SRM, but carries the medium-light body of a American Brown. For those who enjoy a peaty scotch, will definitely appreciate the residual effect of aging this Brown in the Ardberg barrels is this intense nose to finish earthy dank volcanic ash smokey quality that even gives the mouthful a light and silty mouth feel. With additional woody characteristics, this Brown has a nice warming effect, and begs to be sipped and savored. With a modest ABV, a more conservative option for sophisticated palettes.

Had on cask. The warm serving of the beer really brings out the smoked peat flavors in the taste, to the point of overpowering. The feel also suffers from the lack of balance, making the malts feel like dirt. The smell is wonderfully balanced, smokey and rich, what I wish the taste had. Pours pretty and creamy

I tried this beer on tap. It's a barrel aged brown ale.
It has a porter like appearance and smell, roasty and dark.
The flavor is that of a dry brown ale, with a lot of char from the barrel. It isn't a bourbon barrel taste, just charred wood infusion. It may work for some, but it didn't hit the spot for me.
The body isn't very heavy, lighter than i expected. It helped with the drinkability though.
Overall not a bad beer. It isn't one I'd revisit, but if you like smoky stouts or porters this may be up your alley.
