random on tap. Vaguely heard of the brewery. Never heard of the beer. Super crisp and refreshing. Citra-y but with more of a bite. gooden color. Full but bubbly. Overall a really nice hidden gem. Will seek this out at some point if ever in the Saugatuck area.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a beige/very dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus, malts. Taste is pine, citrus, minty, some malts are present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, nothing special, but a decent beer.

The Saugatuck B.C. phase of the Bottle Backlog eradication here at Chez Woody continues.

Following my Pop! of the cap, I employed a very gentle pour since previous reviewers had mentioned haze and/or cloudiness & the challenge for me is to create clarity. Once in the glass, a vigorous swirl raised just under two fingers of dense, foamy, tawny head with modest retention. Color was a slightly-hazy Amber to Deep Amber/Light Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13, but closer to 9). Nose was dank, citrusy & piney and, as one fellow reviewer put it, citronella. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was a riotous mélange of biscuit and caramel malts with grapefruit rind and pine resin. Bottle marks it as 72 IBUs and it tasted like it. It was the kind of American IPA (AIPA) that really makes this self-avowed hophead's mouth water. Finish was dry, with a very citrusy flavor lingering well past the swallow. The maltiness that I initially perceived was totally overwhelmed by the hops. I had no problem with it, but I know that imbalance is undesirable for some.

Bottle dated 7/2016: littke age, showing some maltiness, lightly tropical with some bitterness. Little hot for 7%.
