Nice varied beer selection, with some Belgian favorites regularly in stock. Haven't gone the growler fill route yet, but always find a good haul for my annual visit to my parents.

Large inventory of of handcraft beers from across the country. Some harder to find beers and higher ABV beers. Growler station (64 oz) with local Charleston breweries, and this week, Backwoods Bastard too. Not too shabby. Friendly helpful staff on beers, and this is a big liquor store. Prices are competitive and reasonable. Plenty of parking out front, on the main road from Interstate 26 leading into downtown Summerville.

A: A good location and close to me as a bonus. They have a liquore store next door, and the beer side is pretty well stocked. They have a good amount of beer, from your common available stuff to your craft beers. Included are some growler stations and a cooler for common stuff.

Q: A decent amount of beers, I was pleased to find things that I haven't seen in town anywhere else, and some of the things that I wish I would see. Gives you a chance to try some different things.

Ser: I didn't ask too much of them, but they were nice and the lady tried to warn me off of a 32oz growler saying some of the beers have a lot of foam and you dont get as much beer from it.

Sel: I probably looked for a good 10-15 minutes before I settled on a few beers. I hung out in their craft section, but did pick up an armenian beer that I had never saw before.

V: Prices were a little high, but nothing that would stop me from buying there.

I visited Bill's while on vacation in SC. Bill's is a split store, half selling liquor and wine and the other half selling beer. Bill's features a pretty solid collection of craft beers. They featured Terrapin, Dogfish Head, RJ Rockers (out of Spartanburg), Highland, and Bell's. I was surprised and pleased with the selection. I was lucky enough to pick up a Palmetto Espresso Porter (out of Charleston) and it was excellent. They don't feature all of their beer cold, giving the cooler room to the macro beers. The bomber selection was pretty weak. It was less than five foot shelf. Overall the store is pretty good. The staff was nice, not overly knowledgable, but nice. I'd recommend Bill's if you're in town.

Bill's has a fairly high quality of beer. Lots of good German and English beers, with a decent amount of American microbrews.

While I didn't ask much of the staff there, they were very friendly and helpful.

There was a nice selection of beers. Some odd English and Scottish beers I'd never seen, as well as some good German beers (Weihenstephaner, Flensburger, etc.). Not as many Belgians as I would've liked, though. One minor quibble regarding the American beers: Not that many in single bottles. It's either a six pack or nothing. Oh, well.

Some of the beers were a little pricey, but on the whole they were reasonable.

Overall, this is a decent place to get beer. If they jettisoned some of the macrobrews they could have an even better selection than they do.

Got to check out another of the local stores while I was down here and was pleasantly surprised at the growing selection even compared up north to Greenville, they just really seemed to be on the ball. Had some magic hat which I have not seen hit up by us as well and was told that Southampton would be coming in the next few days. Stock was very good and they seemed to cover all their bases from the local goodies right up to these brand new ones. Prices were actually fairly good considering the local and this made shopping a breeze. I would defiantly stop back in here on my next trip through. This store just seemed to be very very good.

Liquor on the left, beer on the right. Nothing but beer on this side. Beer on the floor, on shelves, in coolers, everywhere. Tons and tons of macro are everywhere; the good stuff is on the left side of the store. Plenty of Flying Dog, Rogue, Great Divide, New Holland. Some high grav stuff but not a whole lot yet. This is, however, the best selection of high grav stuff I have seen in SC. Prices were reasonable. The only thing I saw that wasnt up to par were some out of date beers. I checked some dates and almost all of the Baltika, 1-9, were out of date: some were out of date by more than a year. Otherwise, this was a good beer store. Certainly the best outside of Charleston, and then you have to go to Columbia to get anything good.

So I visited this spot while visiting family in Charleston. My mom happened to move just a couple minute drive away, and I thought that I might as well stop in and check out the selection.

Overall the store is pretty much like a mom and pop's version of Total Wine or Greens, but the staff was friendly....The store itself was split in two with liqueur on one side and beer on the other....There was mostly macro stuff stacked around the store and in the cooler(almost no craft stuff was cold) I was specifically looking for the Duck Rabbit beers(any) and they did not have them/had not heard of them, but looked it up and said that they could order them. Which was nice, but I was only in town for 6 days.

I ended up with a six pack for Great Divide Raspberry (9.99)(I was sharing this one), a four pack of Terrapin All American Imperial Pilsner (9.99)(and I was oh so happy to get a hold of a four pack of this one....I miss the terrapin while up north), and a Spezial Rauch beir (2.99 for the 17oz). Other note-ables were Paulaner Pils, Terrapin cream, Chimay, orval, and a couple other belgians.... I really don't know what people are paying for High Gravity beer and Great Divide elsewhere in the state so I don't know if these were high....they were on par for new york, and that makes me think they were a little high.

I am still surprised that there is so little high gravity in the state, but it is coming along, and Bill's had a great selection overall one of the best I have seen in the Charleston area. I would definitively say stop in if you are driving past the 199 summerville exit or live out that way.

I have been in the Charleston area for over a year now and I have not been to a place with better selection or pricing than this place. Although the employees may not be as much as a fanatic about beer as I am, I did find them extremely helpful and willing to order any beer that I recommended, they even helped me aquire the ultra rare BREW 10,000 by Rogue. "Bill" himself even gave me a free 6-pack to try a special christmas release of a local brewery from last year (since I have been regarded as a regular). That sort of appreciation and willingness to get those rare craft beers for their customers, sets them above the rest!

I stopped by the place today to pick up a few beers. Although the staff was in no way knowledgeable about their products they were more than happy to help find something for you. They had a massive selection of really good micros and imports. They also had which I found really cool was labels (Beer Advocate labels) giving ratings of several of the beers. I thought that was great that the store owner put them out there. So far this the best selection I have found in SC. It is easy to get to, has a large parking lot, and a great selection.

I thought the prices weren't that bad, especially since it's a small independant place, rather than a big chain. I wasn't too impressed with the quantity of the beers they had, but rather with the quality of the beers. I found beers there, that I haven't seen in SC yet, so that was impressive to me. There's room to grow in the store they have, but there's no telling if they will or not. The employees were friendly and asked several times if they could help or not. All in all a nice little place to go, that's not too far off the beaten path. If you are traveling in this area, give it a shot. You might be suprised.

Stopped by this package store in Summerville during a recent work related trip. I was planning to catch them the first day, but at 7:15 PM, on Monday they were closed. Since I am used to that time being considered still rush hour where I live, I was quite surprised. Luckily I was able to stop by during business hours the next day. Seemed to have a reasonably good selection of imports legal in sub 6% South Carolina. Local micros present included New Holland, Charleston, Palmetto, Carolina. I felt the prices were a bit high for these beers, but then again I've been spoiled by the healthy competitive pricing structure in Atlanta.

Plusses: Best selection i've found yet, now that the Brew Man's shop has closed. Location is right off the interstate, so it is easy to get to. If they are overstocked on an item, or trying to unload a new item, they will "Sell" a bottle for 1c so you can try it. Salespeople are friendly and dont mind smalltalk. Price isnt bad comparitivly.

Minuses: Will not sell single bottles or break packages so you can sample. Salespeople know very little about beer, so dont ask about anything other than price. Manager/Owner will NOT order or stock based on recomendations.

located right off the interstate, so anyone traveling into, our out of Charleston can hit it with minimal hassle. I gave low marks for service because I asked for some specific beers and was basically shrugged off. It's in my neighborhood though, so I keep going back.
