Stopped into The Kulminator in Antwerp for a nightcap on 30SEP17. Ended up having three 0.33l bottles of this to cap my night! Each set me back €9.00, but they were worth the high cost.
Poured a clear, deep chestnut color, with medium carbo swirling about. Head was a thin layer of light tan bubbles, with nice lacing on the glass. Had a lovely aroma of dark fruit mixed in with some bourbon. Was rather smooth, and the body was easily medium.
Flavor had lots of dark fruit - raisins, figs and dates to be precise. The bourbon was there, melding nicely with the fruit, as well as some toffee and molasses. Enjoyed very much!! Prosit!

Got this from the De Molen beer shop in Bodegraven.
From a bottle into a snifter
Vintage: 2012
28 Plato
EBC: 25
EBU: 55
APPEARANCE: Pours a small, medium looking, white head with decent retention. Head fades to a faint wisp and bubbly ring. Dark burnt orange in color with lower levels of carbonation. Dots of wisp and a ring remain but leave no real lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Lots of bourbon, oak, vanilla and coconut on the nose. Toffee and butterscotch sweetness from the base beer find their way through, but the barrel still takes the lead here. Really nice.
TASTE: Again, lots of bourbon, oak, vanilla and sweet coconut up front. Big toffee and caramel sweetness with butterscotch flavors at the finish, then more bourbon, coconut, vanilla and spicy alcohol lingering on the palate. Very flavorful with lots of barrel and base beer showing through. Excellent stuff.
PALATE: Fuller body with medium levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, goes down okay with a bit of a burn and finishes rather sticky. A scratch and some heat lingers.
OVERALL: This was excellent. Better than the vast majority of highly-touted barrel aged barleywines out there. The heat held it back from perfection perhaps, but as it is, this is a wonderful, first-class example of the style. Well worth finding if you have the means. Highly recommended.
