Had on tap at ´t Arendsnest in Amsterdam.

A: Golden orange color with two fingers of white soapy head. Lot of big bubbles with nice lacing.

S: Doesn't exactly smell like your normal US hopbomb. Slightly citrus, herbal and nutty. Nice and subtle.

T: Largely follows the nose. I enjoy the change of pace that this allows. Instead of super citrus/pine and bready/sweet, this is more herbal and nutty to me. Subdued by American standards, but very nice all the same.

M: Medium bodied, nice carbonation. No burn from the alcohol.

D: Could have had a couple of these if we had more time and I didn't want to try others. Glad I was able to try Holland's take on a DIPA. Very enjoyable beer that I would have again for sure.

This beer poured out as a lightly hazed Copper color. The head was minimal. Not much lacing either. The smell was hoppy and had a decent amount of malt. The taste gave off a pretty good hop flavor but nothing too intense like I was hoping for. The mouthfeel was smooth and lightly carbonated. Overall it's not too bad but there are better choices.

Bottle of 2011 purchased from the Charleston Beer Exchange.. ABV says 7.5% on bottle, this is 2011

A - Pours a rich amber with little very fine off-white head into my Deadlift glass, I expect some good carbonation here - surprisingly nice lacing

S - Smell is slightly bitter, very fruity/yeasty with alcohol present. Distinct honey and nutty aromas

T - Very nice, bitter (especially up front) very fruity and refreshing. Sweet maltyness and honey, "a bit nutty"

M - Medium bodied, a little light for the style but that makes this thing very drinkable.

O - Very well balance, nice and crisp, super drinkable - really like this one, if it was less I could put quite a few of these back - well worth it though, very good!

On tap at Beer Temple in Amsterdam - poured into a stemmed tulip glass.

A: Copper hue with a decent head with small amounts of lacing in my glass.

S: Smells just like a good Cali IPA, with just a bit more maltiness.

T: Real resinous floral hoppy flavor with a nice clean bitter finish; prevalent sweet roasted malts in there too that work nice with the bitter hops - extremely well balanced and tasty.

M: Medium-bodied and well carbonated, smooth on the palate with a real clean finish.

D: Real easy to drink, but after two I was feeling like I needed to back off and start drinking something with a lesser ABV - they'll get up on you quick!

Got this one from de Bierkonig in Amsterdam. Sampled 10.21.10. Reviewed from notes.

A - deep, cloudy reddish brown; thinnish head faded to broken white cap
S - slightly floral and hops with toffee and bready tones; sweet overall
T - rich creamy flavor; some pale malt with toast/bread; bit of alcohol near end
M - medium-low carbonation with somewhat of a thick body for dipa; sweet and floral linger
D - interesting take on dipa; i personally like the creamy, malty palate on this one

Poured from a bottle of '09 so I'm assuming that all hop fruitiness will be gone.

A- A two finger creamy tan head sits atop a caramel colored brew. Touches of orange/amber when held to the light. Nice lacing dripping down the rim. Doesn't look like a normal IIPA.

S- Caramel, figs, vanilla(?) and hints of citrus... grapefruit rind, sugar sweet peaches and finished with more dried fruit, nuts and just a hint of alcohol. Reminds me more of a great Barley Wine. Wonder what it woulda been like fresh.

T- Caramel, grapefruit, honey and roasted nuts. Sweet with just a touch of bitterness. I'm guessing this went from IIPA to Barley Wine... and I am LOVING it!!!

M- Very little carbonation, sweet but not cloyingly so. Decent bitter bite... lots going on here! Really coats the tongue and leaves you wanting more and more.

O- This is fantastic! I'm gonna try to go pick up whatever they have left next week. Caramel, marshmallow, citrus... I can't believe it's 11%!!! Damn... why did I only pick up one?

Pours a honey gold-amber. No head to speak of, maybe the bartenders falt.
Aroma: Malt, a bit of honey, no hops at all.
I do get a little hoppy bitterness, some malty sweetness, but the mouthfeel is killing me. Supper watery.Llittle carbonation. However, this beer is dangerous, extremely drinkable for a 11% brew.
Overall this is not what I'd expect from a double IPA.

A - Amber hued and slightly hazy with a 1-finger head that disappeared quickly, leaving behind very good lacing

S - Very subdued hop profile with a heavy caramel malt nose

T - Much too sweet up front, with almost no initial bitterness or hop flavor. However, the bitterness does catch your palate upon finish

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O - This is definitely not comparable to your typical American DIPA. A very mellow hop profile was overpowered by the sweet maltiness of this brew. It wasn't unenjoyable by any means, but if you're looking for a very hop-forward DIPA, this isn't going to cut it for you.

Not the best DIPA that I've tasted, but a decent rendition.

Pours a honey golden color with a white head.

Smell is not overpowering. Some hops with caramel sweetness.

What you would expect. The hops dominate the palate, but are not overly aggressive. Well balanced by the malts. Decent Beer.

A - Almost no head on this one, low in carbonation too. The color is light brown amber.

S - Nice fresh beer with hops.

T - Nice soft hops, strong bitter after taste though.

M - Nice soft carbonation.

O - A nice beer to drink when eating Chinese food.
