The first time I ever went to Winking Lizard, I almost had to change my pants at how excited I was with their beer list. Over 150 beers, about 30 on tap I believe. This is a great place to go to watch the game and have a beer. The only problem is that it will take you about 30 mins to figure out what you want to drink from the enormous selection. I have known quite a few people that do their beer challenge, where you have to try 100 different beers in the course of the year. If you complete it you get a free jacket and an invitation to their winners party in December. They also have a glass of the month promotion where you get to take home a specific collectors glass that differs every month. The beer is cheap and the food is pretty decent. Probably one of my favorite bars in the area.

After adding this place a long time ago, I finally actually got to go today. This place is in a nice big century old building. They also said that Babe Ruth slept here when it was a roadhouse a long time ago. It is located barely in Lorain county and sits smack down on the Avon/ Westlake border. They got plenty of parking on the side and in the back. No parking in front, that's reserved for Detroit road. When go through the first two doors they got a real life Iguana on the left. Go past that and the bar/lounge is on the left and on the right is the stairs to the dinning room. I found the bar /lounge area to be pretty big with flat screens everywhere. I found the dinning to be smaller than the bar area. The dinning area is where family restaurant meets sports bar. Everywhere there are pictures of Cleveland landmarks and if there is no picture there is a small flatscreen TV. Near the back of the dinning room is where they keep the big screen TV. Of course all the TVs were stationed to some kind of sports program. The best thing I saw was when I was leaving the dinning room, above the stairs they have a shadow box of different cool tap handles.

If I had to rate the atomosphere when I was there, I would have to give it a -10. They sat us next to a bunch of annoying kids who were running around causing trouble. You would think the parents would do something, but no. But that would be rude if I just based the score on the amount of annoying kids were there at that time.

I found the service to be enjoyable and knowledgeable of the items they sold there. Your placemat here has their different specials on the front and their big beer list on the back!

I found the food to be quite enjoyable and reasonably priced considering the area. Not too expensive, just about average for a family restaurant.

Now on to the beer! They have the usual stuff on tap Bud, Miller, Michelob and Great Lakes. But to my surprise they also have a Brooklyn Brewery seasonal on tap too. When i went it was Their Irish Dry Stout. Since this is Winking Lizard they have their 100 beer wall. That consisted of fine American beers like Founders, Allagash, Brooklyn, Thristy Dog, Great Lakes, Ommegang, New Holland, Harpoon, Stone, and many more like that. Their Imports and Belgains consisted of Hoegarrden on-tap, Chimay, Orval, Rochefort, Rodenbach, Samuel Smith, Aventinus, Westmalle, Traquair, Duvel, Kindl Berliner Weisse, Unibroue, and many more beers of that quality. I found some of the beer prices pricy, but this is a bar, not a beer store.

If your in the area and looking for a nice place to get some good food at reasonable prices and a good brew, then stop on by. You won't be disappointed. Just don't sit next to annoying kids like I did. :-)
