A-Pours a a close approximation to black. Light manages to penetrate fairly effectively. Not black, but dark brown. Head dies off to a filmy tan skin atop the beer. Head leaves light lacing curtains. Relatively light color for the style.

S-Smells pretty damn good. Very nice roasted coffee presence. Mild dark chocolate and charred oats. Light vanilla extract. The roast is definitely the most stressed piece of the aroma. I enjoy the nose quite a bit.

T-The roast is still quite potent. Bitter mixture of coffee beans and dark chocolate and even a tint of hops. Unfortunately there is a watery aspect to the feel and the flavor. The flavor is pretty nice nonetheless, and the beer has an incredibly long finish. The burnt oatmeal flavor is tasty too. Grainy cereal notes.

M-Slightly watery, which is a big no-no for a stout in my opinion. However, this lends a certain sessionability that other fuller bodied stouts cannot offer. Plenty of bubbles. Feels like a Porter.

O/D-A combination of highs and lows. But in the end this is a nice Oatmeal Stout. Plenty to like, and the good outweighs the bad in the end. Despite its relatively minor flaws, this is a good time in a bottle as far as I am concerned.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: One shade lighter than pitch black. Three fingers of off-white head. Nice lacing. Very delicious looking stout!

S: Lots of chocolate malts fill the nose. Bitter coffee.

T: Chocolate milkshake, black coffee, sweet breads, very creamy. Nice, but nothing that blows me off my seat.

M: Dry and just the right amount of carbonation.

O: For $8.99, this is a pretty decent stout. Would have liked a little bit more oatmeal flavors, but still nice nonetheless. Nothing amazing, but worthy of a try.
