12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Starts off with a massive dense tan head, great lacing down the glass. Chocolate, coffee, and roasted grain in the nose. Luscious and smooth with a fullish body. Some sweetness throughout, good balance of roasted flavors. Great use of oat, perfect balance and very drinkable.

I'm a big Otter Creek fan and definitely biased but...this is an excellent new brew by them. I was surprised again and I'm happy that they added it to their year round selection.

Dark roasted coffee and robust chocolate hews hide any alcohol present. Can't wait to drink this in the winter.

Looks great in the glass. Black and the tiny bubble tan head which seems to be a favorite look for a stout. A light and roasty smell. Hint of chocolate and coffee? Tasty is light and roasty. Not much chocolate, but roasty and slight bitter finish. A decent light/sessionable oatmeal stout. Enjoy!

So the 420 theme continues (a small but gentle yawn, despite my love and respect for OCB, both current and before the shift). Let's see what happens when I pour this soft bitch into my Left Hand/Rogue designed stout glass.....

Black as night, with a chocolate milk head that rises up happily, turning khaki after a moment. Looks inviting, and the head hangs on like a champ. Lacing is admirable. My eyes are erect.

Aroma is stylistically on point, which is to say, moderate, easy and something which pulls you into a certain frame of mind - and it is at this point that the name Couch Surfer begins to resonate. I wish to do nothing but sit on my couch with this beer flanking my lazy American ass on a side table.

Taste follows the aroma with no unexpected off notes, albeit the bitterness is somewhat charged for the style. This is a good thing. This is not a bad thing. This is a good beer to sing with. No it is not. Whatever. I'll have another if no one comes into the room to bother me.

Mouthfeel is soft, luxurious and kind.

If I want an oatmeal stout I will surely return to my friends at OCB.

Couch Surfer. Take a soft ride into the den of your desires.

The beer pours beatuifully. Black and with a chocolate colored head of creamy foam that dwindles lazily. You can see the brown hues in my pour.

Nose is oaty without the roughness that oats can sometimes give. Oats can give viscositiy to beer and make it smooth and very creamy. This nose shows some earthy coffee that is not bitter and a bit of cream to entice. As you let the nose waft you will notice a touch of sweetness that suggests chocolate .

Taste is smooth and favorable to the palate. This beer glides across like silk and brings hearty but mellow flavor. Roasty , coffee and cream a touch of bitter chocolate. Dry finish and lingers malty. Hops are adept in this beer to add balance and only a slight bitterness for a dry finish but no real flavor. Moderate carbonation enhances the finish without disrupting the smoothness of the drink.

Superb from the color to the next sip. This is a well made beer.

Pours a pitch black hue with a thick brown head into my glass.

Roasty, chewy with with light coffee and cocoa notes. Quite the contrast to their other recent additions.

Silky with roasted coffee, cream and a cocoa finish.

Chewy and silky textures do clash a bit. However, the end result is bold and assertive.

It's distinct enough from the Wolaver version to hold its' own. i would love to see Otter Creek brew something perhaps a bit stronger for the winter season.

12 oz bottle into glass

black, opaque, with tan colored head. decent head retention. aroma is fairly roasty - a lot of coffee in there. taste is on the drier side, a bit acidic. I think it could be more balanced. medium bodied.

Flight Sampler at the Blend Bistro Bar & Bistro nitro-pour into a 4-ounce sample glass. Very dark in appearance reminding me of a Guinness with the same creamy looking off-white head. Dark roasted malts and hint of chocolate. Creamy texture on the tongue with an onslaught of roasted malts and moderate bitterness. More flavor than a Guinness, but similar in texture. A well done semi-sweet oatmeal stout. I would seek this one out again in bottle and perhaps commit myself to a 1/6 keg.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. The brew is black in color with a brown head that fades leaving spotty lace.

It smells like coffee, sweet chocolate, roasty licorice and has a slight raisony alcohol aspect towards the back.

The taste is earthy with licorice, charred grain, bitter chocolate and has a contrasting sweet and fresh grain component in the finish.

This is medium in body with modest carbonation. Overall a pretty decent and typical oatmeal stout with no issues or lasting memorable highlights.

On nitro tap at The Malted Barley. Pours a pitch black color with 2+ inches of thick khaki head. No lacing. The aroma is coffee, earthy, and slightly sweet oats. Not a big nose. That taste is roasted malts, black coffee, dark chocolate with a hint of vanilla. Caramel notes with some oatmeal sweetness. Earthy, roasty finish. Velvety mouthfeel. Almost no alcohol presence. Overall, pretty solid Oatmeal Stout that works well on Nitro.
