Brimming with darkly roasted malts and rich notes of chocolate and coffee, this velvety-smooth oatmeal stout lingers and lounges into your heart. Gone before you know it...seriously.

Nitro pour at Timothy’s. Dark brown pour with thick creamy head. Lighter roasty grain aroma, a bit sweet, almost lacto (must be the oats). Smooth and silky feel.

Had this on 2018-10-01 in Columbia, PA from a 12oz bottle

A - Opaque dark brown with a 3/4-finger tan head that drops quickly leaving little lace

S - Medium-roasted grain, semi-sweet chocolate, mocha latte

T - Dark chocolate, light char, 2% milk. Finishes with roasted bitterness. Not as sweet as expected from the aroma.

M - Light-medium body and light carbonation. Not watery and not thick like a Founders Breakfast Stout.

O - Considering the 5.4% ABV, this delivers a good dollop of aroma and flavor in the Oatmeal Stout style.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a dark brown to black with almost zero head. The aroma is alcohol and malt. The taste is roasted malt.

Solid black color, medium body with a nice thick creamy feel that oats often give to a stout. Aroma is heavily roasted malt ,chocolate, and an almost roasted peanut smell. Taste is heavy on the roasted malt and softened by the oats. There is a bitter edge that must be coming from hope as it doesn't taste like bitter coffee or cocoa like most stouts would. Gets better as it warms up, would definitely have this again

12 ounce bottle poured into a Nonic pint glass. Love the cheerful pooch on the label!

Appearance: Very dark, beautiful, ebon. A little less than one finger of foam on the pour. Scads of bubbles cling to the inside of the glass.

Smell: Subtle in scent. Chocolate, rum cake, fragrant and sweet.

Taste: Very sweet, indeed. Espresso, walnuts, and the distinct flavor of, well, oats are in the forefront. Interestingly, the hops are more than detectable, adding a closing bitter bite and spice I don't always taste in stouts of any variety.

Mouthfeel: Tart, and sharp on the palate, it's almost like drinking pure grapefruit juice. Not flavor-wise of course, just in feel. Plenty of carbonation too, nice and tingly.

Overall: A very smart and tasty stout. Aptly named Couch Surfer, it's perfect for relaxing at the end of the day of the sofa. Worth picking up in a six pack.
