Pours a pale yellowish color with a bright white headskie. Fruity spicey yeasty flavors are all up front, but the overall balance is lacking. Nothing special, really. Better fresh on tap as I recall which shouldn't be the case for a tripel. Mouthfeel and drinkability average. Meh.

Poured into a large tulip glass a hazed light golden with a nice fluffy white head that left a sheet of Belgian like lace,decent aromas overripe pineapple and bannana with underlying yeasty/spicey notes in goes down from here.First thing I noticed is the watery flavors not enough malt to pack any kind of punch so the flavors comeoff as not very assertive some light spice and fruit but it just seems to melt away quickly.Like I said the flavors are there but the lack of malt and watery mouthfeel keep this beer from really becoming anything more than average at best.

Holy Otter, or as I like to call it when it's cold, H'otter. Brilliant gold, nary a sparkle of cloudiness, with a white head that dissipates pretty quickly to a few clouds of foam on the surface. For a beer that claims to be fermeted in the bottle, I see no traces of schmeg in the bottom and no cloudiness at all. Odd. A single bead of bubbles comes up from the center of the Duvel glass, which looks cool if nothing else. Aroma is biscuity-malty, with a slight sugariness along with some Belgian yeast esters and whiffs of pepper.

Starts pleasant enough, whith some biscuity sweet maltiness, hints of sugar, and a light bitterness coating the tongue... then the alcohol comes in, hot, loud, and proud. Depends on how you sip it - if you gulp it, it doesn't show so much. If you let it sit on the tongue, on the other hand... hot like a DFH Immort Ale hot. Finishes with lingering afterburn, along with some pepper, sweet candy malt, and a mild, indeterminate noble hoppiness. Reasonably creamy mouthfeel, but the drinkability is killed by the alcohols.

Wonder how this would be after sitting for a year. If I had a second bottle, I'd try that. Some of the flavors are there, but it tastes like it just needs time. or a lighter, I can't quite tell which.

22 ounce bomber purchased at New Beer in NYC (just $3.99) pours cloudy, dull apricot, with moderate amounts of tiny bubbles rising to the top. A vigorous pour resulted in just a minor near white head, that clung to the sides of the glass and then left some scattered, long lasting and stringy tiny bubble lacing. After a few sips, I'm surprised at the low numbers this beer has been assigned by my fellow BAs. The nose is clearly of yeasty, spicy Belgian goodness, with white pepper coming to mind. Notes of tropical fruits, the ever appreciated “bubblegummyness”, more lemon and lime, slight gin and some more pepper. Drying with some resiny hop notes in the finish. Gotta love a Vermont/Belgian. (Two of my favorite places on the planet) and this one did not disappoint. Well worth a try IMHO.

Otter Creek- Holy Otter

Appearance- Bright yellow with a small soapy head.
Smell- Sweet, sugary sweet with hints of fruit ( grape, lemon, orange)
Taste- Sweet. Big hints of spicey fruit come through. Alcohol is present in the end.
Mouthfeel- Sweet and alcohol dominates in the end.

Overall- Not bad, at all. I think it needs to be aged to tone it down a bit!?! It was just too sweet and alcohol was to dominate. Otherwise it was a nice sipper!!

Very light body, thinner looking than your normal tripel. A bid of yeast on the top, more floatng there than integrated beautiful normal Belgian head. Aroma is mildly pleasant yeast. Taste is tripel all right, but rather harsh at that. Not very drinkable.

I've been fairly happy with the Otter Creek World Tour so far, but this one is an exception.

It pours a hazy orange-gold body beneath a rocky head of white that slowly dwindles to an average collar and leaves some thin walls of tiny spots and streaks.

The nose is loaded with chalky, lightly phenolic and just mildly spicy yeast; sharp fruit (white grape/white wine, a spritz of lemon, red berries, subtle currant); and backed by and candyish malt with a hint of vanilla. Some dull, seemingly leafy or herbal and spicy hops are floating around in there as well but they seem to blend in more than they stand out.

The flavor is a little more full and complex, but not by much. The malt shows a bit more biscuity character, the fruitiness has a cranberry edge (perhaps from the combination with the bitterness), the floral/herbal/spicy hops come through more clearly, and the alcohol is more noticeable. The chalky yeastiness remains throughout.

It finishes dry and chalky with a flicker of tangy fruit that quickly passes to leaves just some residual dull hops behind.

I would be remiss to not state that there are much better Tripels available, but I did enjoy this in and of itself. It's just different. well, very different - but no points for originality. I think there could be a better balance that ties it all together, but as sharp and uneven as it is (I'm thinking of a spider graph), it's still tasty.

big brown bottle. served in Duvel tulip. No particulary memorable smells. a bit musty. some yeast and alcohol in the nose.

The first taste proved not so great. Pervasive alcohol, carbonation was not right. Let it warm and hoped for some complexity that did not arrive. I finished this, trying to capture nuances that were not there. The saison and tripel styles are very difficult to do right and do justice. Its a decent attempt, but I would like to see it be more complex, a bit more subtle, mask the alcohol at lest a little bit, and have abit more life in the glass in terms to mouthfeel and head retention..

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a thin white head that dissapates quickly. The aroma has some candy sugar sweetness, a vinegar sourness, some biscuity malt, some yeastiness and a bit of alcohol. The flavor improves alot as the beer warms, with notes of honey, biscuity malt, funky yeast and a slight hint of alcohol. There is almost no spice character in this beer, which isnt necissarily bad, but it's definately not style appropriate. The mouthfeel is light to medium with good drinkability. An ok beer, not true to style and kind of simple but not bad at all.

Picked up a 22 oz. bomber for $3.99- figured what the hell. Have never really been impressed by Otter Creek but I gave this whole a try.

Poured into my Chimay chalice.

A- light golden yellow- foamy head- lots of bubbles from the carbonation.

S- Smelled of citrus fruits and things of the sweet nature.

T- My mouth was overwhelmed with hints of lime, lemon, orange, and citrus. VERY sweet also had a sour undertone. Alcocol was prevalent. Tons of spices

I was not really into this beer. For me it was too sweet, and not enough substance.

No ABV listed but was surely a strong brew.

Pours a nice semi cloudy copper colour with a puffy white head that leaves a fair amount of residue on the glass.

The aroma has a nice blend of sweetness and malt to it. There is a definite candy-like presence along with a bit of fruit as well. Malt is mixed in well throughout as mentioned, and it has a lighter sweeter characteristic to it. Yeast falls in and out of the aroma as well.

The flavour takes the aroma up a bit in all areas, but the malt seems to lead a bit more than the candy here, although its still sweet all around as the malt has a nice sweet base to it as mentioned with the aroma. Yeast is of course in the mix as well, along with a slight hint of spice and a touch of alcohol here and there, although the latter is certainly more noticeable when the beer is cooler. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and a tad chewy overall, and also a bit watery overall as well. Fairly average.

This one was pretty good. It didn't blow me away by any stretch but was still a solidly crafted brew that was enjoyable and had no major flaws. A nice American version of the style overall.

appearance - Cloudy clear gold color. Poured with a head that decended, but now it looks flat. Some bubbles are present.

smell - Apples, swet floral smells.

taste - Has a sweet taste, almost like apple juice. Then it has this kick at the end, like brandy.

mouthfeel - Medium body.

drinkability - I gave a A to another tripel, but noted that I couldn't finish it because it was sweet. This I think is bad, but I think I don't like them.

Appears a hazy, dark gold with a small, white cap and medium collar that quickly fades. Spotty lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of heavy malt with a decent dosing of biscuit malt. Other aromas found are of roasty nuts, apricots, pineapple, yeast, and cane sugar.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with estery, tropical flavors pulling through.
Mouthfeel is hot, medium bodied, doughy, chewy, fruity, with apricots sticking to the back of the palate.

Was able to sample this before it came out last week. Not being well versed in the tripels i was a little surprised on the taste and smell. There was virtually no smell at all. And the taste kind of had a slight hoppy feel that stood on the back of your throat for awhile. I prefer the other World Tour more than this one.

Pours a light golden color a bubble here and there will let go and rise to the small white head before it falls rather quickly. No real lace left behind.

Aroma is bready/wheaty malts with hints of fruitiness, whats that in the background vinegar? Fruit is light green grapes, apricots, pear over all nice except for the strange not quite vinegar but thats what it is reminding me of aroma.

Taste is sweet bready malts dominating but touchs of wheat like presence, but not as strong as the nose indicated. Lingering fruits are present grapes, apricots that seem to blend into a fruity/floral hop presence that is light. Alcohol is noted in the finish along with earthy yeast and light subtle hints of the vinegar note in the nose, but not near as strong, thank God.

Mouthfeel is light side of medium with lightly peppy carbonation but not over done. Mouthfeel is the one thing they got right here.

Drinkability is ok another average example from what I find to be an average brewery, I no others feel different. An way thanks go to Enola for tossing this bottle my way

Sampled in a Unibroue tulip glass at Ale Mary's in Baltimore. Poured a clear golden with a thin white head.
Spicy on the nose (coriander?) mixed with citrus notes.
Had this one after a couple of Chambly Noire glasses. This brew was sweet, but the malts were subdued. Felt they came off more grassy and chalky than what I had expected from a triple. Don't know what hops were used, but didn't dig them, they seemed to pull away from the brew. Mouthfeel was buttery and smooth, finished with just a slight touch of ETOH. Mouth felt expectially dry afterwards. Might've been from the earlier brews, but most likely from this. Overall not bad for a happy hour sample...

Poured into a glass chalice.

Pours yellow with little carbonation and no head - just small islands of patches.

It has an alcohol and sweet apple cider-like aroma.

The taste is of sweet sugar candy, similar to cotton candy and honey. Noticeable alcohol notes come through. The sweetness borders overpowering. It has some hints at attempting to be in a Belgian Trippel style, but falls short of attaining it. The fruit taste is restrained and overpowered by sweetness and lost in watery thinness.

It's thin and lacks any real depth or character. Sweet, rather bland, thin. I give them credit for attempting the style, but this just falls short across the board.

Pours a slightly hazed golden color with a small white head that fades. Mild lacing on the glass.

Smells quite sweet and malty with very light bready and Belgian yeasty aromas. Rather light aroma overall.

Sweet and malty upfront with a very light breay and yeasty taste. A Light hop bitterness appears midway through but not enough to cut the sweetness. Finishes sweet with some noticable booziness.

Medium body, mild carbonation.

Certainly a poor example of a tripel and an overall mediocre offering - at best. I finished the bottle because I could, not because I wanted to. Fans of the style should bypass this one.

22oz bottle purchased as a single from Villa Spirits, Storrs, CT.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" white head over the clear golden brew. Head is quickly down to an uneven layer of bubbles, which are largely focused around the rim, with plenty of slow-falling lace. Aroma is minimal, but provides sweet and grassy notes. Taste is moderately sweet and spicy malts, which linger but diminish through out the remainder fo the experience. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is pretty good. Another reasonably nice brew from Otter Creek in their Worls Tour series.

Purchased at Sam's in Durham for $3.99 (22oz).

Served in a Sam Smith glass on a warm Tuesday night in North Carolina, after a long bike ride. The color is a beautiful gold; not as dark as I expected from a Belgian Tripel. The head is sustained forever, but only coats the surface of the drink.

A smell is practically nonexistent. The hint of barley is present, but it's not strong.

I like the taste of this beer, although the Tripels I'm used to are usually stronger and more sweet than this. Still, it's a big barley flavor, and I like it!

The mouthfeel is thick and hearty. This beer coats the entire mouth. It's a little sticky, but I dig a beer that hangs around. The finish left my mouth a little on the dry side, but not too much, and not in a negative manner. I like this beer, and will drink it again.

I had been off on a vacation, when I found this funny labeled triple on a supermarket shelf. It poured like one the famed Belgian triples with the cloudy orange and cream flow.

My first sense of the Otter was that it smelled good and the first taste a just a little off of what I was expecting. Of course, I kept trying after I had filled my favorite 50cl glass. I liked the malty taste that reminded me of the fabled St. Bernadus Triple.

I was uncertain what this might go with, but I tried grilled chicken with bbq sauce with some success.

Poured a cloud, soft golden color with much less head than expected, which quickly dissapeared. Smell was a soft malty character, a little bit of alcohol on the nose, but what I came away with more than anything was the smell of apples. It was like smelling a vinegary apple juice. Once I started to taste the beer, I still couldn't get the apples out of my head. Not big sweet apples, like a fuji, but small, tangy crab apples. It also had the light sweetness of a tripel with alcohol present, plus a slight buttery quality to the taste. Malt presence, very little hoppiness. Average carbonation, medium-to-light body. Unique, worth a shot, but not the beer to try to get a classic sense of a tripel.

This beer is at cellar temp and poured into a stemmed snifter. The beer gushes a little upon pop capping.
Beer pours a clear bright gold hue with soft bleached white head of 2 cm foaming up and fading to a sturdy surface layer with some tight lacing on the sides of glass.
Aroma is floral and fruity with white grapes and pear, some candi sugar and booze as well. The nose fits a tripel pretty much right on.
First sip reveals a light airy body and slightly watery body with very fine gentle carbonation. The beer has almost no weight to it while in my mouth.
Flavor is as expected, fairly sweet and boozy, I get white grapes, pears, some berries, floral hops, and again some candi sugar. I get a little wine booziness on the finish, that leaves a little warming in my belly. The beer is very easy to drink due to light body and mild and appealing flavor. there is some obvious booze on finish to increase sippibility but I think this is appropo for the style. I find this to be a yummy beer and enjoy this the most frmo the world tour beers Ive had recently.

Appearance: clear golden yellow in color with a spotty surface foam that hung around a while.

Smell: very sweet and a touch of yeast aroma.

Taste: very light malt base here, with very noticable alcohol, yeast, butter / honey sweetness, green grapes, and a noticeable bitterness. Overall very sweet and unbalanced.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Lightly crisp from start to finish. Short sickenly sweet finish. A feel of liquid butter and burning alcohol on the tongue was unpleasant.

Drinkability: I waited a while to finish the glass, hoping some warming would improve the flavors. It didn't. Poured the remainder of the bottle down the drain. Avoid this one, and select any other Otter Creek beer on the shelf.
