This robust India Pale Ale follows British tradition by using bountiful amounts of fresh hop cones to produce a crisp clean character; blending Magnum, Crystal and Hallertauer hops with generous amounts of Munich and Carmel malt.

Was in love with this stuff for a while and enjoyed on tap some great nights out in Burlington. I think this piney/malty style of IPA is one of my faves, only found now in the like of Celebration.

A darker SRM than your average india pale ale, this one is like a mixture between copper and brown, which I guess kinda makes that auburn. 1/2" white head, retention didn't hold up. Aroma had a caramel presence for the most part.
Taste kept up with the caramel impressions, mixed in with some C hops of olden yore. I'm sorry but the mouth feel would be better without the excessive roasting and malt. Has a woody presence to it. Not really gonna satisfy a hophead methinks. Would not bang again.

Poured from 12 oz bottle. Almost no head and dissipated immediately.
Smells more of orange than anything else. Not hoppy. I don't regard this as a bad thing, though, because too many IPAs try too hard to be over the top.
Very tasty. Doesn't scream or even whisper "IPA" but a delicious beer nonetheless. Malty without being fruity and certainly not hoppy. Not sure how far past the brew date it is but thinking it must be months given how hop flavor breaks down.
Mouthfeel is decent, maybe a bit heavy toward syrup and not IPA-like. It's a good, solid beer. I like the citrusy qualities and would have another on those days where i'd choose lighter-colored beers. I think Wolaver's does an exceptional job of brewing, but trying to stuff beers into a category sometimes detracts from the finished product. I like this beer but it isn't an "IPA" per are, just a delicious American Ale.
If they marketed this as a Vermont Robust Ale, I'd say they had created a standard. But "IPA" or "American IPA," I would say not. A very good and drinkable beer - highly recommended. Wolaver's/Otter Creek is a great brewery.

the bottle I had was a different label from the one shown it also states its usda organic. looks good in the glass with its cloudy orange color and off white head. smell is pleasant with fruity and sweet notes. taste is balanced and fits the style without over powering you. ipa's not my favorite style but I would buy again.
