Poured out of a 12oz Bottle into a pint glass.

A-sunset orange and hazy body with an off white thick head.

S-mango and earth (turned soil)

T-hop front is fruity with a biscuit and toast middle, some veggie underlying and a dry hop finish.

M-medium, low carbonation and a wet taste, flat

D-Critiqueing this style is tough. The beer is not hoppy enough for a West Coast APA and lacks the malty goodness of a true British IPA. I think that a beer that wants to be organic is great, however, it tastes like a standard recipe with organic ingredients. It seems like its weak on all fronts. Good flavor, don't get me wrong, just not enough of it.

A: Poured a light copper-orange with a slight fluffy white head.

S: On the nose was a slight floral and pine notes along with dry citrus, and a soft lemony aroma.

T: The flavor had a nice caramel presence that backed up a light hoppiness of citrus and pine. Very clean taste, medium body but overall a bit bland and tame for an ipa label. Would make a better pale ale then IPA.

M: lively from the carbonation.

D: Overall not bad just a bit tame per style. An organic beer should focus more on malt quality then producing a middle of the road standard west coast ipa that gets lost amongst the numerous others.

12oz bottle with bottled-on date of 5/5/08. Into Sierra Nevada pint glass...

A: Hazy orange. Hard pour,no head though. great lacing all the way down the glass.

S: Citrus. Grapefruit mabye some lemon rind as well.

T: Tastes fine at first then a strong wierd (metallic?) after taste comes in and LINGERS.

M: Not sticky. Balanced until that wierd taste hits.

D: It's a good try. I've definately had much worse. All these organic beers seem to always have something off about them. There are better/cheaper ipas out there, so I wont be buying this one again.

A- poured into an english dimple mug creating a deep orangish amber color with a thick white bubbly head.

S- Hops and grapefruit
T- carmely and very hoppy but something of an awkward aftertaste. Cant quite put a finger on it.
M- is good ,smooth and easily drinkable with minimal carbonation.

D- average,, It's not bad but I wasnt that impressed at all. I enjoy to many other IPA's to look for this one again.
Kudo's for the organic thing though.

Not a big fan of this. It looked really good, but then that was about all it had going for it!

Smelled of fruit and caramel, but not citrus or piney like I enjoy my IPA's.

Tasted really different to what I feell an IPA should, this almost was so caramel based, and malty, it was like an ESB

Mouthfeel was fine, as was drinkability. But not a great IPA. Overall, disapppointing as I've had other organic IPA's and really enjoyed them.

Not a big fan of the IPA's but this one wasn't so bad..

Pours an orange yellow color with a haze and a nice white head that hangs around for a bit. Smells of spices and hops. Actually a pretty crisp and refreshing taste, of there were hops but not overpowering. It was a good blend with the spices too. Went down on and mouthfeel was alright. I won't be seeking this one out again, but I'd say give it a shot.

Pours a clear lighter amber. Nose is very similar to the pale ale. Light with a slight nutty tone. Flavor has an earthy brightness to it. Very well balanced. Real distinct mature flavor tones. Thick but not overdone maltiness. Feel is thick on the liquid body and an even carbonation. Hmmmm. A tasty ipa. Another nice one from this brewery.

Like this much better than the PA from the same brewery. Still leaning towards the Brit style of hoppy ale. Lighter in color than the PA as well. More head and lace too. Alcohol is very noticable. Biscuity character of the Munich malt stands out. Ok beer.

A pretty good beer because I do like the style but not really anything special. Golden, almost orange color, with a nice head and lots of lace. The aroma is very fruity with a little hops and vanilla. The flavor is sweet grapefruit but not as hoppy as I thought it would be. Some crisp bitterness.

Bottle: Poured a light brown color ale with some orangey notes and nice foamy head with good retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of very light bitter hops which are disappointing considering the style. Taste is a mix between a bland light caramel malt profiles with a very light bitter finish. I expect some bitter or citrus flavour in my IPA which I didn't get here. I have to admit that this one was a big disappointment.

Appearance- It has a nice golden body with an orange hue. It has good full thick head with some good lacing.

Smell- A bit of citrus and sweet blended hops aromas are dominant in the aroma.

Taste- It has a strong bitter taste a t first but a sweet aftertaste. If you are not bitter beer drinker it will get you.

Mouthfeel- It has nice full feel, thick and smooth.

Drinkability- I liked it. It is an overall good balanced beer.

A: Pours a rich copper color with orange highlights. Yields a thin, white lacing of foam.

S: Caramel malts with subtle hints of spiced hops and brown sugar.

T: Sweet malts upfront followed immediately by a sharp metallic note. Warms to notes of toasted caramel and spicy herbal hops. Rich and well-balanced.

M: Medium-bodied and smooth with a consistent texture throughout.

D: Very drinkable. Hey, it's certified organic. Pass the tofu.

This poured a clear gold with a bit of off-white head. It smelled like barley malt with citrus and copper hops. It tasted like bold copper hops and earthy malted barley, with some licorice. It was slightly thick with some carbonation, and had a somewhat lasting bitter aftertaste. Overall this had pretty good flavor and a clean taste, with decent body. But it didn't have any real depth or unique character.

Pours a cloudy golden color. There is a thin white head with good retention.
The smell has a good strong hop smell. There is also a bit of a caramel smell, too, that I am not used to in an IPA.
Taste has an immediate strong taste to it that hits hard. It is then balanced out by an interesting caramel malt taste that balances the hops down.
Mouthfeel has a nice thickness, combined with a very smooth feel as well.
Drinkability is very nice. The good hop taste is dimmed down by the caramel malts balancing the beer very nice. A very impressive IPA, especially for an organic.

On tap received a ice pint of orange/amber with a slight rocky head that lasted well.

Smells of hops, but not over the top. Some sweet grain and malt as well.

Hops hit you first in the taste, but not over the top. Immediate malt and sweet breadiness. Finishes bitter and pleasant. Sounds good, huh? Yeas, but nothing that'll blow you away.

Firm carbonation and descent medium body.

I guess you could drink a few of these because it is a bi muted in flavor. Decent representation, but you can do better.

bought a 12 pack mixer with IPA, Pale ale and Brown while in VT
A- A clear orange or light golden color with a nice white head leaving lacing. great head retention!
S- Not a big IPA smell, but it has some nice malty tones and maybe some amarillo in there. Does not smell dry hopped.

T- Bigger on the mlats here. A nice smooth bitterness that fades quickly leaving way to a cracker and caramel malt finish. In between is just a little hop flavor.

M- meadium body and the right amount of carbonation.

D- Nice and drinkable. Maybe more of a birtish IPA. Out of the mixer I think I liked the Pale Ale the best, but over all I think this is a nice branch of Otter Creek.

I bought a variety case that included this from Bryn Mawr Bwverage and poured it into a pint glass.
Appearance: A yellow / amber colored body topped off with a fluffy white head. The retenion was pretty good and the lacing was abundant.
Smell: You can certainly tell that there is a strong malt backbone but the citrus and earthy hops really came through.
Taste: More prominant earthly hops and the malt has fadded more to the back.
Mouthfeel: Not very IPA like rather very smooth.
Drinkability: Good.
Don't drink and review.

at first I hesitated to order this beer, but man I am glad I said "wht the heck" and gave it a try.
At an Irish bar in DC!
This beered tapped a very nice medium amder with big white head and nice lacing following.
The smell was very sweet of malts, nicely blended with a nice citrus punch from hops.
Tastee was even better, very nice hppiness surrounded by a nice big malty bone and good mouthfeel.
I dont knowif the surroundings had anything to do with it or what, but this wasone fine beer.

A- Pours a deep rich amber, almost copper color, with a 1.5 finger head. Decent retention, and an acceptable amount of lace left behind.

S- Good hop presence, with a decent splattering of malt as well. Mostly citrusy hops, while the malts ranges from a touch of raw grain to caramel. Very slight hint of diacetyl.

F- Again, nice balance between malt and hops, but a slight edge towards the malt. Good caramel and toffee type flavors, but the citrus and to a lesser extent, the pine hops are a bit over-shadowed. Perhaps just slightly under-attenuated by the very neutral yeast.

M- Creamy, medium bodied, and with just enough carbonation.

D- Very nice... It would be easy to drink quite a few of these. Makes for a great session beer. Good enough to enjoy, but not amazing enough to take away from the conversation with friends.

Overall, pretty good. One of the better organic IPA's that I've had. It still has a little ways to go to be a truly great IPA, but it is more than acceptable. If you're into the organic thing, (which I am as far as food is concerned), this is well worth trying. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting some, but don't go out of your way for it.

I've been eyeing the 12 pack sampler of Wolaver's Organic Beer for quite some time now and finally decided to get one. (hey, it was on sale) The box was a little shotty, held together with some tape and might have been there for a while. So first up the IPA

A: Poured normally into a pint glass revealed a 1 finger head and a nice ambery-dark colour that i like to see in IPA's. Might be some malt behind that hop bite.

S: Not really much here but my sense of smell is about as good as a pencil. Kinda bland slightly hoppy smell.

T: I was surprised by the strong hops here. Nice and sharp and a lingering bitterness that I enjoy in ipas. Also some nice maltiness but the hops cover it up rather nicely. Over all its simple and nothing to great but enjoyable.

M: Decent mouthfeel, not too high in carbonation, pretty typical as far as IPAs go. Not too watery either.

D: Very drinkable, 6.5 is surprising, but will help you get to where you want to be, heh. Overall not a bad beer, but there are much better.

Nicey hazy golden color. Lots of carbonation. Fluffy, pillowy head with some rings of lace. More golden yellow than orange.

Smell of chlorine over bittering hops. A light hint of fruit, like lemon. That chlorine is an unfortunate side-effect of its organicness.

The hops in the flavor are bitter and kind of non-descript. Bitter like a German pilsner; not flowery or grapefruity. A hint of mowed grass. Chlorine is still there in the taste. Has an ok spicy end, but not enough to salvage it.

Feels fizzy with a bite at the end. It's really more like a pilsner than an IPA. Better as it warms but disappointing.

Poured into a weizen glass.

A - Transparent golden coloration which produced a modest bit of froth. Retention was mild and some spotted lacing was left behind.

S - Sweet clean malty aroma with a slight kiss of hops, very pleasant.

T - Grainy and fairly bitter profile with a sweet malty backbone. A nice level of pine hops are present and overall it's well balanced.

M - Light bodied, fairly low carbonation level which suits this brew just fine.

D - A pleasant surprise, and a pretty tasty brew. This is a mild IPA and doesn't really compare to the west coast styles, but all in all it is very good and definitely worth a try.

Pours a deep copper with a dense white head with good retention and stick

Aroma is not strong but is nice. There is green, pine and cirrus hops here. Malts definatly come through in the nose as well with biscuit being predominant

first to hit the tatse buds are very nce green and pine hops. Then comes the biscuit and caramel malts followed by a nice citrus hop sting to finish it out.

Mouthfeel is ligh to medium and carboantion is spot on for style

I dould drink several of these bad boys

A - Poured a light copper with a decent two finger bubbly off white head. Lacing is pretty decent as well.

S - Light citrus hop scent with a sweet carmel malt kicker.

T - Suprisingly smooth and balanced. This is a hell of a lot better than I expected. I gotta say this is one tasty modest IPA, not a hop bomb but very refreshing and clean.

M - Meduim body with nice carbonation.

D - This is the definition of a session IPA. I really can't say a negitave thing about this beer. This is the second Wolavers I've had and both have been outstanding. I mean, are there better IPA's out there, of course there are but this is straight and to the point enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Copper body supports a finger of white foam, decently lacing pint glass. The hops are too modest on the nose, but receive an assist from decent caramel malt. I'm surprised that the taste is not more loaded with hops, though it is crisp. For hop lovers, this is not going to knock your socks off. However, it's not a bad IPA.

It does flatten a bit near the end, a disappointment. In sum, a decent IPA, one worth trying. There are far better examples of the style for certain.
