Pours a clear copper color with a creamy and fluffy white head on top. A bit of lace left behind.

Fruity and floral hops up front on the nose before the malts come through. A bit sweet and some graininess alongside a slight toffee note.

Pleasantly bitter but not quite as hoppy as expected. Nice herbal and semi-citrusy hop flavors but the grainy and biscuity malt backbone hides a lot of the hops.

Mouthfeel is rather thin but smooth enough to please. Overall, this is a fairly middle-of-the-road brew from Otter Creek. Not my favorite from them but doesn't really stick out as a winter beer.

12oz bottle had between Burlington Caucus.

A clear red/amber color with a small white head -lots of lacing. Nose is hoppy and fresh, light malt notes as well but quite well balanced.

Taste is surprisingly hoppy for a red, but very welcomed. The mouthfeel is decent, slightly high carbonation with a nice crisp finish. A slight metallic note but not too strong.

A : pours a deep brownish red with a fizzy tan head that slowly rises then dissipates. minimal lacing on my tasting snifter.
S : sweet caramel, simple syrup sweetness and some earthy hop
T : taste starts out very sweet with some buttery caramel and a bit of shortbread cookie. A sharp and slightly citrusy hop attempts to break up the buttery flavor. A bit of bitterness on the end.
M : clean and crisp. medium to light body.

A bit less flavor than I'd like to see in a winter ale, but still pretty good. Not sure about the ABV on this one, but it is quite the easy going winter that would be good for a full day of football watching.

A solid, but not great easy to drink beer. I've had six that have gone down quickly and easily and without complaints. To be honest, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot going on with the beer. It's not super hoppy (which I tend to like). It doesn't have much of an aftertaste and I may be keeping it too cold, but for whatever reason I still think its not bad. That being said, when choosing between this and Otter Creeks Stovepipe porter, I'd say choose the porter every time.

A - Carbonation is good on this making a solid inch of tan colored head. Lacing is only moderate with mild stickiness and the beer itself is a dark amber that's clear.

S - Mild pine hops within a body of sweet caramel like malts and toffee. Biscuit malts are mild.

T - Starts of hoppy then quickly the biscuit like malts take over with a bread taste. Finish is sweet but not overly so cleansing the palate with caramel and hops. Tasty.

M - Medium bodied it sets the tone for a winter beer.

Overall totally worth the $1.75 a paid in the mix and match section but not as sweet as I would have liked it.

12oz bottle. Pours a brownish red color with a quarter inch of head. Some lacing. Aromas is bready and earthy. Some sweet malts. Taste is malty and earthy. A bit tangy. Hints of floral hops. Pretty light in the mouthfeel department. An alright beer to find in the Winter Mix 12. I wouldn't look to buy this seasonal on its own. I know the Black IPA started as the winter seasonal and moved to year round. That wont be necessary for this one. Overall, this beer is adequate.

Bottle poured into a pint.

This beer pours a nice amber/red color with an average head in both appearance and retention. It looks pretty much like a typical red. The aroma is malty and slightly metallic and, for having such a modest ABV, i think I can detect the ethanol in the nose as well. The main aroma is a malty sweet candy smell though. The flavor is pretty mild and not nearly as sweet as most red ales I have had. This finished with a nice hop bite/bitterness that I have never really noticed in this style. The flavor is pretty one dimensional and not complex at all. It is an enjoyable hop bitterness with a weak underlying base layer of malt. The mouthfeel is light and watery, kind of high on carbonation and very effervescent on the palate. Overall is an okay beer, nothing great but nothing terrible. I'll drink it any day.
