Brewed by:
Otter Creek Brewing
Vermont, United States

Style: Märzen / Oktoberfest

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 4.80%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
In celebration of Bavarian tradition, we brew Otter Creek Oktoberfest with German Hallertau and Tettnang hops to balance its slightly sweet malt flavor. Brewed to enjoy on a crisp autumn day, Oktoberfest has a deep golden hue that is a perfect match for the beautiful fall foliage of Vermont.

Pours a clear copper with orange hues. Minimal white head with no retention or lace. Some slow carbonation

Smells of roasted grainy and caramel malts. Faint toffee. Hop aroma is floral and spicy-smelling. Some nuttiness in there too

Tastes like the nose. Roasty malts with caramel, chestnut, and toffee flavors. Hop bitterness is mild. Floral and slightly earthy with a hint of peppery spice. Slightly coppery metallic aftertaste

Feels clean and smooth. Decent body. Slightly grainy finish

Overall an enjoyable marzen. Wasn't let down by this but it's not a game-changer by any stretch. Would revisit if the mood struck me and there weren't better options

On draft at the brewery.

Poured a medium copper hue with a wispy white cap. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured light earthy caramel malt with an herbal hop spice.

The taste consisted of caramel, a leafy hop spice and an earthy nuttiness.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty lager.

Honey yellow-orange in color with a deep haze. Poured with a strong white foam that reduced to a healthy white cap that left sheets of wet lacings on the glass. Bready and biscuit aromas are abundant with caramel malt and earthy, grassy notes beneath. On the lighter side of medium bodied with a delicate, slightly thin, feel. Light bready malt and grassy flavors throughout with a light tangy hop presence in the middle. Finished cleanly with a sour bread aftertaste. Very easy drinking, but somewhat unremarkable.
