Notes / Commercial Description:
Madison River Brewing Company presents Salmon Fly Honey Rye. The malted barley used in this unique brew is complimented by the subtle spiciness of rye. Bittering and flavor hop additions help keep this brew extremely balanced. In addition, there is a mild sweetness that dulls any overwhelming rye or hop flavor derived from the pure local Montana honey. These ingredients blend together to create a lighter bodied drinking experience for all kinds of beer drinkers.

Madison River Salmon Fly Honey Rye

Appearance: gold-yellow, small head, and some good lacing.

Smell: nice apple and faint grain.

Taste: hops, pleasant malts, slight grain-rye, and a faint apple sweetness.

Mouthfeel: light and smooth.

Overall:
This is a nice brew. You should save this for a warm day. It goes down easy and still has plenty of flavor.

This one is new to me and I have to admit that I am rather pleased with this one and that it was available locally.

The beer pours a cloudy blonde with a light amber tinge. It is a very attractive color for a beer. The head is thin and white and settle quickly with almost no lacing.

The nose is subtle with malt, light hops and some vanilla giving it a almost floral essence reminding me of bergamot or lavender.

The taste is the best part of this beer. While the mouthfeel is a tad bit more watery than I would consider the flavors more than make up for it. I was drinking this straight from the bottle the other night and I was really just savoring how good it tasted as it got a little warmer. As the beer warms the complexity of the flavors really come to the surface. The malts and the hops are as close to perfectly balanced as you can get in a beer. The beer is slightly dry with undertones of fruit that match the aromas. The flavors are complex and rewarding with sweet and bitter competing on the palate and are like a party on your tongue. Subtle flavors of caramel, vanilla, bread are nicely blended with the hops.

Overall I really like this beer and I would like to be able to buy it again.

No clear freshness date.

A: Spritzy head that drops quickly without significant lace.

S: Not much. A little honey and subtle, earthy hops.

T: Honey comes through. Light bready malt and a touch of sourness. Hops are pretty subtle. Very clean finish. I don't pick up any rye.

M: Decent.

O: A lightly flavored and fairly uninteresting beer, but not an offensive beer. Not something I'm likely to drink again.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Very transparent honey-like coloring which was very nice, not as pretty as the lovely Torpedo though. Smells like honey and hops which is a lovely combination. Very little head that fizzed away quickly. Slight lacing on the glass. Tasted like honey at first, then hops, then honey.

Super smooth beer that really just drank well. Nothing too complex, but I would totally buy again.

Looks great. Bright gold and crystal clear with a small white head that leaves its mark down the glass.
Smells fruity like a sweet pilsener.
The taste isn't bad and isn't great it reminds me of 70's ale. The crisp rye is there in the finish.
If I was a local I would most likely make this a regular, but I'm not going out of my way to track one down.

I got this as part of a BOTMC. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle, hazy yellow pour, medium white head, some lacing. The aroma is light, not much going on. The flavor is light, sweet, don't really detect the rye. The finish is sweet. The body is light, easy drinking. Drinks like a wheat beer, good summertime brew. Would have liked to see more rye in the taste.

Appearance: pours a clear yellow color with a 1" head that lingers around a bit.

Smell: very soft aroma as only some honey sweetness can be detected.

Taste: grainy malt base with some honey, lightly spicy rye, some lemon citrus, and a mild bitterness create a well balanced beer.

Mouthfeel: light-medium in body. Crisp to start, less crisp at the finish. Refreshing.

Overall: I didn't expect much from this beer, but is nicely refreshing and has a good flavor, even though it is on the light side. Easy quaffing.

355ml bottle poured into pint glass 12/3/12

A some tiny suspended particles in a golden yellow body, decent amount of tiny bubbles feed a short lived thin film of foam that leaves some random lace

S sweet spicy malt and some honey and lemon

T not overly sweet from the honey so I like that, not a whole lot going on but I do like the spicy hops? or maybe it's the rye malt? either way I like the spicy honey mix

M pretty light bodied with a good amount of tiny bubbles, faint aftertaste lingers for a while

O I'm not blown away but there's no reason to be offended either, pretty basic but decent brew

not going over the top with honey is a plus, I don't think I'd go looking for a second but I'm not upset there was a first
