Howe Sound Brewing's 'Boomer's Canadian Red Ale' @ 5.0% , served from a 1L pot-stopper bottle purchased for $9.50
A-pour is clear dark amber with some golden highlights shining thru , with a small off white head leaving a spotty lace along the stein
S-Magnum & Perle hops
T-nice & pleasant tasting 'Red Ale' , certainly doesn't have the kick of 3 Beavers - Imperial , also has a slight bitter finish
MF-low mild carbonation , medium bodied
Ov-ok/good beer , nothing wrong I just liked/loved 3 Beavers much better

S - malty with a metallic hint, raw grains with a leafy finish
T - nutty and and toffee maltiness, leafy hops with subtle earthiness
M - solid carbonation kick, generally smooth with a touch of hop bitter
O - a pleasant amber offering, somewhat plain in comparisson to the typical Howe Sound brews, but well worth a try

Cheers to joemcgrath27 for sharing this bottle with me...
A - Pours a crystal clear copper with a nice amber hue, finger of head with some retention and no real lacing.
S - Metallic hops with an earthy undertone, and caramel and toffee coming through on the finish.
T - Comes across more of an ESB than a typical red ale, with the bitter earthy hops nicely present and the caramel and toffee following through on the finish.
M - Solid carbonation level that goes down smooth and finishes with a touch of dryness.
O - Nothing mindblowing, but certainly nothing to sneeze at. A solid amber ale that is not only tasty but offers an opportunity to support a good cause.

I must say that I prefer the Rockfish Red over this beer as it has more complexity though this is still a good red/ amber ale that rides the hop/malt edge. Kinda tastes like fat tire in the finish with some biscuity malt flavours in the mix. Seems that HS is the master of red ales as they also do an Imperial Red as well

A- Amber brown in appearance, 3 fingers of beige head that drops out rather fast. Reasonable amount of lacing.
S- Bready malt, very yeasty as well. Touch of caramel and nut, I think I detect a little citrus too.
T- Quite bready & nutty. Bit of caramel, very malt forward. I'm not picking up much for hops in this.
M- This has a decent mouthfeel, spritzy carbonation that has some weight behind it. Really smooth finish.
D- I can get behind anything for a good cause, but this Red Ale doesn't need much help. Another solid beer from Howe's Sound.

1L swing pop top bottle poured into pint glass jan7 2010
A hard to measure clarity due to the crazy amount of bubbles but its dark amber in color and has a two finger beige head that falls to 1/2in film and stays there to the bottom leaving plenty of lace well down the glass
S some tea leaves with a little toffee, rather faint though
T quite nutty and a little earthy with some caramel, flavors are a fair bit stronger then the smell
M a mild bite and the bubbles fluff it up quite well and the flavors linger for a while
D other then the faint smell this beers pretty good, I took down the massive bottle with no issues
this ones worth trying and it supports a good cause so drink up everyone

A nice gesture by Howe Sound to provide assistance through their brewing prowess to those who serve a greater good.
This beer pours a clear, very dark chestnut brown hue, with orange highlights, and two fingers of thick foamy pale beige head, which leaves a few thick swaths of thundercloud lace around the glass as it recedes. It smells of bready, nutty caramel malt, and fruity, leafy, and sprightly hops. The taste is nutty, bready, sharp biscuit malt, mild citrus oil, and somewhat spicy, earthy, musty hops. The carbonation is moderate, if a bit prickly at first, the body medium weight, and fairly smooth. It finishes with a fast Houdini impression in the malt corner, and the zippy, leafy, earthy hops filling this gap.
A nice amber ale, with a solid drying edge - very drinkable - and good thing too, given this brewery's predilection for the big swing-tops...

A good beer for a good cause. Dark copper, brown hues and a sandy-cream coloured head.
Sweet, biscuity malt smell. Yeast character, light caramel and even a bit of fruit from the hops.
Malty, bready taste. Caramel and malt, slight citrus taste. Very creamy, and smooth taste - well blended.
Interesting body - a bit thick, but at the same time you can pick up the carbonation. A good session beer, though in a 1L bottle, you almost have a whole session right there.
$1 from every bottle goes to Boomer's Legacy, which uses donations to purchase goods for soldiers to give to those in need - the money will go to providing food, medical supplies and equipment and educational supplies and equipment to Afghan children.
