Appearance – The beer was copper in color with a white head.

Smell – The nose was bog caramel.

Taste – Wow, there is big caramel here. There is a slight resin presence, but there is no rye. The booze is well balanced with the sweetness. The sweetness clings in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel – The caramel presence gives a sticky impression that I really enjoyed.

Overall – I am not big on Shoreline’s regular line-up, but this is good

The Rillo Rye was on tap at Shoreline so I brought a growler home...wasn't cheap either!!!! $38 smoes!!!! The reason I decided to stretch the pocket for this beer was that is was brewed with my buddies favorite hop...Amarillo....and lots of it! The color was a cloudy amber with foamy/creamy off-white head. The aromoa carried the famous amarillo scents...a mix of pine citrus and floral complexitiy. The FULL BODY beer taste carried slight pine and citrus with it that was balance immediately by alcohol. This is a sipping beer not for sessioning. Too much booz for me.

Served in a snifter at Shoreline 1/7/08. Thanks to HeatherAnn for the assist!

A: Served a lovely looking dark chestnut-brown with some subtle reddish hints. No head, ring, or lace.

S: Interesting aromas of grape, rye, hops, and tangy fruit.

T: Sweet malt at the forefront with a chaser of some restrained rye, and some bitter amarillo hops for balance.

M: Smooth, slick, and oily. Not too dry or astringent. Very sticky.

D: Considering the abv, we found this to be incredibly drinkable!
